I wonder if you could make a muffler like this using a cast iron cut out?
Cast-Iron Exhaust Cutout - JCWhitney
welded entire exhaust in one piece
and used press-bent 2.5 inch tubing from the cat back. Thanks for doing another review of this muffler. I've been eyeballing it for some time now looking for a quiet exhaust solution.
Might have to get it afterall when I does choose to upgrade the ridiculous exhaust the last owner didwelded entire exhaust in one piece

It sticks out just about the same as stock, it could have gone in about half an inch more but thats how the shop I took to did the work.

Just thought I post a review after having this muffler on for a couple months.
Here are some pics, the muffler is long so its in there tight.
I noticed no change in performance from my N1 with the flap open and I lost about 2psi from my max 15psi, with a slight lag when closed. It gets very quiet, almost like stock when I close it and throttle response gets a bit more responsive when intake is in vacuum.
The noise with the flap open, at first, was not as loud as the N1. Now, after a few thousand miles, it got louder and sounds much better. Noise has not change when I have it closed though.
Its nice to drive the car hard and hear all the loudness and then turn on to a street and just cruise like a cat walking on soft carpet. Thanks for the info Matt, I'm pleased with this upgrade.

I made sure the shop used 3" mandrel bends. It's a nice muffler, I'm sure you will be pleased as well.
Not to Muffler Block here, but I did a review with a vid of the Magnaflow Pro XS muff and it's great in all categories, $, power and quietness.

Right on man, so you did get it after all. You know, now that mine has the tabs welded, I'm thinking of painting the muffler flat black and leaving the tips chrome. With my bumper and the car all black, the chrome stands out a lot.
On the remote, I thought about putting it on the dash and feed power to it with the cars battery. It would need a resistor to lower the voltage though, down to like 1.5 volts. Seemed like too much so i left it as is.

My car used to be so loud that cops would give me the stink-eye and occasionally follow me even if I passed them going 5 under the speed limit, but I shouldn't have to worry about it much any more. On my way home from the shop I passed a cop in Elm Springs (sort of a speed trap). I was going a few miles over the speed limit and I figured I might get harassed as usual so I quickly reached down & pressed the "A" button on my key-fob just in time to skate right past him at whisper volume until I was out of sight. I love this thing! My car has a T4 tubular mani and a built race engine with lopey cams so in the past it was a little embarrassing sitting at stop lights in traffic because of my obnoxious exhaust note. With this muffler I can simply hit the button and she's perfectly quiet. I have my BISS set to idle pretty high in order to compensate for the cam lope but my car still sounds almost stock now at idle when I close the valve. When the butterfly valve is wide open, this muffler (with no resonators installed) is still quieter than my leaky old 3" crush-bent cat-back and 18x9" Magnaflow was with 2 resonators in-line behind it. The exhaust note with the valve open is perfect. It's just loud enough that it sounds aggressive, but not loud enough to be annoying. The ability to close the valve and cruise on the highway above 65mph without feeling like my teeth are going to rattle out of my skull from all the noise and vibration is also really nice. On the flip side, If I want to get rowdy, all I have to do is press the "B" button and slam on the gas pedal to hear the sweet sound of wide open throttle. The exhaust note is a nice deep rumble instead of the typical "pissed-off bumble bee" sound that most 4 cylinder cars with aftermarket exhaust usually have. I think it looks really nice too, almost like stock, but it's polished and tucks under nicely so it looks classy instead of ricey.
I know but i'ts true
