Finally a good 1g converter

Good news.

The more vendors that make these units the better off we are. I know someone else that's going to be testing a custom billet converter from a local shop. Hopefully he'll get it in and working soon so we'll get some feedback.

Jessie do you think a car with this 10" converter would be useless only running to say 8000rpm or MAX 8400rpm? I'd like the biggest stall I can get in this converter. However building a motor that breathes past 7500rpm well starts getting expensive. Mike at SS has a 11" and a 10" and I'm torn between which one to get.

Well alot more info than that is needed. Send me a pm with all the setup specs.

I also have this converter and will say I'm not going back to the 11". The 10" offers more stall vs the 11", couples better and is cheaper. So how is there no point to running this vs the 11" when we need more stall and this gives you that at a cheaper price?

How much is the newer Billet 10", Level 10's is $1100.

It is interesting that you mention that a good tune, and nitrous as well as displacement is required to stall to those values.

I personally have just installed a hughes converter on my 1g, on the brake it gets to 3k, with nitrous just a little over 3400. I however have not made a pass with this converter yet. If it is efficient on the top side, then I will leave it, otherwise I will be trying this 10 inch converter.

Thank you for testing this

Now you have to consider that a GT42 car makes about 75-80hp at 3000 RPMs. If it can get to 3000 thats pretty good.

Heres a video from this weekend at a local 8.5 tire race. We changed the way we were launching the car since the last track outing so you can see we were slowly turning up more and more. We where able to go 3 1.3x 60's with the best of 1.36 before the dew set and the track got slick. We are gonna upgrading the intercooler and TB, this car is still on a stock 1g tbROFL, then we will be doing some more testing.

Looks like it launches great. Were you using a two step on the last ones?

At what point is a larger TB needed and what do you reccomend for a 10 sec auto ?

We are currently using a Non turbo TB and our mph is 142. However with the soon to be released magnus manifold, we are hoping to go to a 100mm TB. The problem that we have with our FWD car, is that we are using a eprom ecu that has tmo chip, so our control of the vehicle is very limited.

Wow is that thing ever hooking and moving out.OMG I love watching the autos get the rpms up, bump... bump... bump up into the staging beams and BYE BYE.:hellyeah: Nice work!:applause:

Wow, those are great times and killer 60ft. :thumb:
That new Magnus with a 90mm TB would help spool up even more here, sick to think about. :barf:

Since the converter will stall higher (1st post) are you guys still dialing in the launch/suspension to try to take advantage of the higher rpm launch? At 4500rpm you can hear it bouncing so that means you got time for it to go even higher and leave with more torque!!:hellyeah:

That bump was us just getting the spool up tuned, if you list to the last pass its not there anymore.

What are you guys using for converter bolts?

We have the converter tabs drilled and tapped to fit a tce 7/16 converter bolt for a chevy. That along with the kiggly flex plate and we have never had a problem. I believe mike is gonna start offering this on the converters.

That would be an awesome upgrade.
How big of a shot are you guys using to get the stall up there and when is it turning off and on?

He mentioned this to me as well as a possible upgrade. He made it seem like you guys had good luck with it so that sounds promising. :thumb:
