Filters help!

The last time I asked this question in another thread, I received the suggestion to go Advanced Auto but my Grandpa told me that was a bad idea so I'm here to get some more suggestions/advice. I looked online and found this website that sells Aprilaire filters. I asked before but can someone tell me if there is a difference between house air filters and car air filters? My second question is how to install them into the truck? Seriously, thank you so much for any help.

If your Grandpa doesn't want you to buy one from a parts store then just go to the parts counter at the dealership. An air filter at the dealer really isn't much more expensive.

There is a major difference between house filters and auto filters. Mainly size and shape.

Your grandpa has no idea what he is talking about. I buy half my parts from advanced and have never had a problem with any of the very numerous parts i have bought from them.

Installation instructions into the truck would be easier to provide with the year make and model of the truck. In which case you should probably join a forum for that brand of vehicle, not a dsm forum.

Why wouldn't an auto parts store have a good filter for an automobile?

Yes I know there's cheap, better, and best products. If you're looking for the best oem filter, then go to a dealership. If you're looking for the best performance filter, then head to the vendors here. If you just want a good replacement then the auto parts store is good

I'm just going to throw this out there. Most parts stores carry K&N. If it's good enough for NASCAR/NHRA/WRC, I think your truck will be fine. Also, house filters have flow ratings that are lower than a car's air filter. Lastly, why wouldn't you join a forum that deals with the type of truck your husband drives instead of a forum about building/tuning/designing a 90s model sports car?
