Assuming im correct to the fact that spending $140 on a air filter and intake pipe is useless at this stage, im wondering about air filters.

Cant seem to find anything but has anyone noticed any difference between a $20 universal filter vs a $120 K&N filter?

Ive never been a big K&N fan because sometimes they can actually make something slower (like my motorcycle) and they cost so much, but a auto-zone appearing el cheapo $20 filter doesnt seem like it would filter much....but its $20.

Anything will be better then my probably original (as in 111k miles on it and DIRTY) OEM air filter in the air box, but if I can re-use these filters down the road on bigger turbos and things that I guess it would be ok to spend a little more cash.

Just trying to get the mods I can now before the big stuff so let me know of your experiences or suggestions.

all you need right now is a cheap ebay filter or the ones from procarparts.com and maybe this cheap turbo inlet pipe. that would be enough to satisfy the "enormous" t-25!

hey man the t25 is a beast you better watch out! :shhh: :p

So when I get a cheapo cylindar type filter do I need a bracket to connect it to the maf.

what size filter....3"?

Yes you need a maf adaptor if you're still running the stock intake pipe. I believe the diameter of the filter and the adaptor is 4.5". You can probably get them in different sizes, but 4.5" is what is generally used.

I noticed an extra $100 in my wallet that wasn't in K&N's.
If the cloned B&M shifters had shown up about a year earlier, that would've put me $200 up.
I wish I could get the casinos to work as well.
It does bring up certain ethical questions: K&N and B&M have both developed very nice, very clever inventions and/or design improvements. They should be supported for these efforts. I don't care to see my dollars leaking into Communist China, whose strength is being continually ramped-up by our country's ever-continuing sense of avarice and self-importance.

It's going to really be getting interesting when the Chinese-built cars start showing up, as though KIA and Hyundai aren't example enough. The old Bastille of American Quality has been overrun.

I wish I could afford ethics.

I wish I could afford more patriotism.

Get the rip-off. Dragging your foot out of the sled will only break it off. The sled won't be slowing down.

It won't be as good at filtering. Dirty filters already have the larger passages restricted by the dirt they're holding, which stops even more dirt. If you actually keep an air filter (or, oil filter for that matter) long enough for its "restriction" to be felt by the engine, it'll be a very rare occurance.
You will feel the difference in going to a cone filter and doing away with the stock airbox. More than you'd feel going to a K&N filter that goes in the airbox. You'll also hear more intake noise, and that alone is good for 2/10ths.
