"With ULTRAFILTER oil changes can be extended to every 7,500 miles and 10,000 with synthetic oil." Filtering isn't what determines oil life. Breakdown of the additives package is the primary reason why oil needs to be changed. Mechanical damage to the long-chain molecules is a secondary reason. Filtering has shit-all to do with either of these circumstances.
"Most oil filters filter about 66% of the oil over a 3000 mile interval." My ass. And what, the "bypass" oil hides over in the corner of the sump?
"The ULTRAFILTER, filters 100% of your oil 100% of the time. This called “one pass” technology. This means with ULTRAFILTER every drop of your oil is filtered." And if the filter isn't providing enough flow restriction to need bypassing, then it's not much filtering. It's just passing through a screen. Oil filter passages are on the order of 5 microns to filter out debris. The specs on this load of crap are 30 microns.

" The test speaks for itself; the ULTRA FILTER outperforms the competition and your engine almost doesn’t even notice it is there!" So, it's like not even filtering the oil, eh? This might be the one true statement on their whole site.

If you want to get serious about filtering the oil on a DSM, put an adapter on that thimble mount and run to a remote, full-sized filter.
However, being able to filter out chunks won't do anything for a motor that's losing them.
 
I'm not really as cranky an ass as I always come across as. There are many magnificent innovations out there- that thing of slicing loaves of bread before packaging was stunning -such as what's happened to motor oils in the last decade or two.
However, I think that not only is this product worthless, but that their claims are about half as valid as those of the Tornado.
Although I can't quite figure that half-of-zero thing.
 
Yeah it does look shiny, imagine trying to get that sorry piece of crap off when it's covered in oil and slippery as an ice rink with vegetable oil on it.

I never thought about the bypass valve issue though, and it does concern me a bit, considering the extraordinarily high oil pressures that DSMs run. I mean mine goes to 75psi at idle when it's cold. The only time mine is below 20 is at redlights, it has to be piping hot to approach 10. If the bypass valve really opens at 12psi, how much of my oil is being filtered? Does the OEM mitsu filter perhaps open at a slightly higher pressure?

As much as needs to be, apparently. 200,000 miles under turbocharging is not uncommon.

It's not the filter- it's the bypass next to the filter. Oil filters are fairly redundant. Once an engine is shedding enough shrapnel for a filter to actually be doing much, it's already grenaded.
