FFWD 272 Cams..Shim ?'s

I installed my cams last year without the shims included for the lifters. I have the 3g lifters that were installed about 9 months before the cams. My questions are would not shimming the lifters cause a compression issue....and would not shimming cause a ticking sound comming from the lifter.

If the clearance is fine between rocker and lifter at full extension could i damage the lifter by shimming it?

That shimming deal is pretty annoying, I wouldn't get regrinds again. I had to put two washers under each lifter, not just one as supplied. Otherwise some of my lifters looked like they were at the edge of their extension. Even this way I'm not 100% confident in them, and my engine does make a relatively loud clacking noise. I put in new 3g lifters at the time.

I could see your lifters being noisy without shims if they allow play in the rockers, but I don't see how it would cause compression problems.

I bought a set of the 272 in/out cams and will be installing them soon...anytips on this matter will be helpful...thanks
