272 cams

What do I have to do to run 272 cams? Do I need adjustable cam gears? Thanks in advance.

No, they are not needed unless you want to properly degree your cams (which isn't always necessary - all depends if you want to squeeze everything out of the cams). Other than that, you can just drop them in and go. Shims for the lifters may be needed if you get regrind cams.

No you Don't NEED them but its highly recommended to get the most out of them. As far as other things nothing there drop in and go .

Ok so if I get new cams I can just drop them in without having to degree them? In your alls opinion what are the best cam gears that wouldn't break the bank too bad.

Unless you plan on babying it aand not revving over 6k I would get upgraded springs.

I'm going by what Brian crowers site says. I personally I have BC 272's with their stage 1 springs/retainers.

Ive had my bcs 272s for over a year on a stock head daily driver with no problems.

But if the money is there why not get the springs I guess. But you don't NEED them.

I got all of it for 400 off of a friend. I don't know how much they are new. The set I bought looked they were never ran.

The GSC cams seem to be pretty popular and would fit in your price range. Kelfords are also very good for the money, but they run larger than they're advertised. FP also makes a good cam for the money.

HKS and Delta seem to be in the middle, considering they're both the same specs for the most part (Delta based their cam off the HKS). I would probably put Comp Cams in here as well. Haven't heard of too many people running them, but those who are, don't have anything bad to say.

BC is at the bottom from what I've read.

Me and some 3-4 local DSM's rev to 8-8500 on stock spring's with no problems not sure where you got this from...

Stock Valvetrain is good till 8K. So just slap on a set of 272's and have fun. If you have the money for cam gears get it, if not then don't worry about it.

The Kelfords and the FP's highly recommend upgraded springs, The hks 272's are good past 7k on good stock set of springs

Nothing much, Comp/HKS/Delta are drop in. Depending on your mods, may need a tune/retune.

Same here, HKS 272s and everything else is stock.

You don't need cam gears or springs. However if you want to dial the cams in you will need solid lifters.

If you do decide to get new springs, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get keepers as well!!! My buddy was doin a cam swap on his d series and upgraded his springs and he dropped a keeper. It is literally the smallest part of ## motor and we looked for 2 hours He had to order them from honda and overnight them at a total for $120 for 8 keepers. If he would have ordered them with the kit, woulds cost him 20 for a full set of 32
