Hey all,
So after two days of modifying my bumper and mounting that big intercooler from SSAC i see the piping doesn't fit from the turbo to the IC. I see other people makeshifting it with the stock rubber hosing but that is BS. I paid decent money for this equipitment and i expect it to work. Has anyone else had any luck contacting this company? If you can list a phone number, as i cannot find one on their site, it would be appeciated.

If they are unable to send me the correct things to fix their build "kit" i am sending it back, with the drill holes already in that damn IC

I agree what turbo are you running and for 295 I would say that a little modification shouldnt make you that upset. Look at buschurs, slowboys, greddy all go for over a grand. This intercooler kit was made for a down firing turbo. So the use of a t25 or t28 will not just bolt up. If you are talking about the missing coupler and 2 tbolt clamps then for the cost of the kit plus of those 2 items will still save you over 600 dollars at the very least.

What do you expect? The SSAC fmic's aren't top dollar intercoolers. Some modifications will be needed in order to make them work. Even some of the expensive fmic kits out there require modifications to make them work.

What exactly are you having problems with? Sounds like your running the stock t25 and the elbow on it isn't allowing you to connect it to the lower intercooler piping?

yes killa dsm, and i guess i wanted to upgrade my turbo anyhow to a tdo5 down facing turbo, assuming i get a tdo5 will it work fine?

Secondly i'm not gona get a tdo5 turbo this week, how can i make it work for now? just like the rubber hosing i have laying around and cut it to make a U pipe?

Sorry guys, its my first mod and probably one of the more difficult ones, specially when i don't have a helping hand

Why do u need a fmic for a t25??? You should have done other upgrades first before now actually downgrading you set up.. The turbo is too small to even need a fmic that big

I had no problems mounting and routing the SSAC kit. Obviously there was bumper facia modification needed to fit over the core, but the only other thing I had to do was weld an extra 2" +/- onto the hotside so my o2 dump didn't dump directly onto the piping.

Only "mod" really needed to the kit for my application.

Remember, SSAC is Ebay. As stated even top dollar kits usually need some sort of modification.

Christi, are both support bars flush with the fog light mounts? I have the VRSF and mine did not sit flush but it's mounted anyway and was wondering if you had any issues with that. Maybe it's just how I mounted the whole thing, but I'll try to remount it when I get the car back.

Those with the "you get what you paid for" card are living in the early 00s.

Get with the times, things have been exposed to reveal that cheap doesnt mean inferior quality. Do some reading and perhaps you can get caught up with the times..

As for the OP complaining, if you do a quick search you will find your answer on your situation. And to be quite frank, if you can't handle this type of problem, you should RETHINK about owning a DSM..

You should see when the wack apexi/greddy FMIC were the "CHEAP" option back in the late 90s.. cheap meaning $800-1000+

She did it and she's a guurl ;)

Nice beading!!!!

Doing work like figuring out how to deal with the location nuances with a SMIM and non MHI turbo installs and custom intakes pipes and such will become easier and easier as you get more familiar and comfortable around the front clip. Don't let this little stuff get you irritated.

Wish I could say that I actually welded it myself...that's one talent I don't have, however. LOL My welds are solid...but basically look like wads of chewing gum. The rest of the work however...yes, that's mine.

No, I just drilled out the front of those brackets on the FMIC and mounted it to the supports for the crash bar. 2 large bolts on each side. That annoying (and useless IMO) tab on the top tho...I just buzzed that off.

Where were the clearance issues on the 2gb bumper?
The entire facia was a clearance issue! Ha! You'll basically have to chop out most of the plastics on the backside. The core is massive for the price. I just took a pair of tin snips and went to town. Cleaned it up with a Dremel, called it a day.

All in all, despite what some people are saying in here, the SSAC kit is awesome in terms of "bang for buck." The install really was pretty painless, I don't see how you're having so many issues, OP. There's a guy I know of who dyno'd 550+whp on this exact kit a little over a year ago I believe...can't argue with results. :thumb:

myself and a buddy of mine are both running the SSAC FMIC. neither of us have any complaints other than the throttle body elbow being a pain for that one lower bolt. but he is running some very serious power with that intercooler. yeah the install was a pain with the bumper, but in my eyes worth every single penny.

As far as I know, I am the first person to get this 2G SSAC FMIC to fit on a 1G. I paid $295 for it as well, many years ago when I made it fit. The lower right bolt on the throttle body flange is a pain to fit and requires notching of the flange for installation. But, it is all worth it, this FMIC cools well and flows well. You will not be disappointed. Post up pictures of your piping situation, if possible. It makes it easier to figure out, and easier fix the problem.

For what people pay for the ssauto kit, they could just pay the extra few bucks, purchase our kit and be rid of all these fitment issues all together. Saving a buck now and paying $50-$80 later on isn't that great of a deal if you ask me. Especially considering the fact that we offer unlimited support and are always available via phone, email, pm & AIM in case of any issues :)

Our kit cuts down hours of install time as well as potential boost leaks when you consider the fact that you have to hack the ssauto piping, machine the bov & tb flanges flat & source mounting hardware. Our cores are designed to our specifications and recent dyno testing has proven relatively substantial gains from just replacing another company's FMIC with ours without tuning.

We also offer bolt on solutions for MHI turbo's as well as our new modular BOV flange design at a competitive price. When you factor in the benefits, IMO our kit blows the ssauto out of the water.

My VRSF fits flush:thumb:
very happy with it.

SSAC wasnt made for a t25. i doubt any kits out there are, you should have been aware of it. yes you will most likely need to buy a u pipe, you can get them off ebay i think? pretty sure.

Agreed. At this point it makes no since to go for the SSAC. I'd easily go for yours. I got mine way back when we had the very first Group Buy on them.

O.P., you didn't pay a lot. That must be a joke. Their whole "kit" is less than most quality cores. So you are getting what you paid for. I don't know why that statement makes people so up-in-arms.

Have you actually looked at the testing done on those cores?

Even if they do, they still swing-nut.
