Hey all,
Ordered my FMIC from SSAC. Was surprised at how big the actual core was. Any-who, i got the whole frickin thing apart and low and behold after mounting my FMIC the bumper had a 3inch gap.I know people talk about hacking the bottom support out of that bumper, but I'm a curious to whether that will structurally remove any integrity that bumper has. If so I'd like any advice.

Also, i see people with the 97-99 with those large open mouths in the bumper. Where can i order one of those from cheaply? Will i still need to mod it?

Thank you all so much

-Noah

All you do is cut the black ribbed part of the bumper out to make the big mouth look

I just cut some of my support bumper so it slid in and clear the FMIC, it cuts easily with a saw-zall, or you can ditch the support all together as the support is only fiberglass anyway.

This is my style bumper though

So it's not the same, where can i buy one like yours rich?

He just has a 2gb bumper and just cut away the black plastic that covers the top portion.

You can take out the middle pieces in the opening, or if you really want I am sure you can cut the mouth out of a 2ga bumper as much as you want, but it dont think it would look all that great.

If i were to buy a 97 style 2gb or w/e would it mount with out a problem? ive done a bit of research and heard maybe the headlights have a small gap and such?

BUMPER COVER mitsubishi ECLIPSE 97-99 98 1998 part CAR : eBay Motors (item 130372490565 end time Apr-05-10 17:09:45 PDT)

sounds pretty reasonable

Yea but you need 2gb headlights as well, the gap you are referring to is when there are 2gb headlights on a 2ga bumper, the 2gb bumper wont even fit with 2ga headlights.

The 2ga bumper will bolt on but as stated, there will be a gap at the inside corner of the headlight since the 2ga and 2gb headlights are different lengths. The 2gb light is also black plastic instead of chrome. Only the 2gb front from the Eclipse will require the headlight swap if you ever consider switching to the 2gb Talon front end.

I'd find out what the cover is made of and if you want fog lights you'll need to get the 2gb lights as well with the bezels.
