fancy namebrand exhaust or just 3" piping???

ok, 98 eclipse GST, i wanna go with 3" all the way and i want to replace the downpipe, cat, and catback....i want to have a cat too because i have to pass emissions should i spend big money for namebrand stuff or just get a high flo cat, a cheap eBay universal muffler and have a exhaust shop put it all together??? i dont wanna be loud as sh!t and i dont wanna have a little tiny whinny tone...i like the deep throaty sound i was told before that with a turbo engine that you dont get a junky sound

make your own...i just got mine finished today and it sounds awesome...its 3" O2 back with a magnaflow muffler....it cost around $170 minus the muffler...a hell of a lot cheaper than name brand....if you have the tools, go for it

Yea, I say build your own, I did and it sounds like a p-51 mustang turbo prop plane, which for the record makes people wonder what the hell you have, it is kinda loud but you will have that with a 3". You are going to run a cat so I don't imagine it will get to loud.

a pipe is a pipe is a pipe. As long as it's mandrel be as cheap as possible.

If you can find a shop to mandrel bend for you then build one with them. Unless you have the means to do it yourself.

I got my SS 3" o2 eliminator for $900 with a test pipe and highflow cat flanged for quick installation. It came from Slowboy under there VRS exhaust section. The exhaust also comes with a magnaflow muffler that is a 3" inlet/outlet. Not some great big grapefruit shooter.

If you search and find the right pipe lengths you need then go for it. I wouldn't bother with your stock measurements the pipe lengths are going to differ slightly and you don't want to be off.

hey guys, i dont wanna hijack this thread but i dont want to make a new one either.. luckily my friend's dad owns a 4x4 shop and they have all the tools you can think of (mandrel bend, weld, everything) now my question is, if i have him build a 3" from turbo back, is the Flex section necessary, what does it do? i do plan on buying a hi-flow cat to go with this setup.

yes, when you rev your engine moves and moves anything else thats connected to it....its good to have flex for some give when you get on it.....also if you plan to race at all,most tracks make you have the braided flex..the standard cheap stuff will work too but it wont be track legal....if you dont plan to go to the track then just get the cheap shit
