Laval,
Hey guys, the fabric under the roof of my car is kinda...sagging....
I m sure I m not the first one with that issue, I was wondering what you guys did to fix it ?
Take it off and glue it again?
Any pics ?
Did any of you guys replaced it with a different type of material?
thanx

It's called Headliner LOL. If you didnt notice. These threads Steve posted helped me out. Should help you too.

I've redone my headliner twice, its a pretty easy job. You can do it in an hour or 2 by yourself, but its a lot easier with another set of hands. Just take your headliner out, remove the old fabric, spary some 3m general trim adhesive #08088 and spread out your new material. That 3M stuff works!! I redid my headliner about 5 years ago in blue suede and just redid it again a few weeks ago in black suede. The blue was still going strong, not sagging at all. Hope you find this helpful!

LOL yea headliner :ohdamn:, thanx Steve for the links.
btw it looks really good 9!'clipseDOHC , I think i m gonna go with suede too that was my original idea.
Maybe throw some soundproofing material underneath too probably wont hurt !

9!'clipseDOHC that black suede look so amazing. I have to do mine again when I did it the first time I left some of the stuff it so it sagged again in about a week.

That looks awesome :thumb:

Any of you guys tried to put some sounddeadeners in between?

Sure haven't. That wouldn't make much sense for me since I pulled out all the factory sound deadening material that goes behind the dash, in the engine bay, and under the carpet. Whatever you want to do though, its your car.

I have used many different materials to cover headliners. Suede, vinyl, leather, crushed velvet, and standard headliner material. Even have done a few with designs embossed in them.

Cars that have sunroofs have a little less sagging trouble because the area is smaller and there is added support.

The heavier materials (suede, vinyl, and leather) put more of a strain on the adhesive to hold it up, especially on the large center section of the headliner. With a bit of heat during the summer, sagging issues can occur.

The 3M spray adhesive is good stuff, but I have seen it let go on quite a few people. Try using Weldwood contact cement. You can get it at Lowe's for about $10 and that's enough to do 2 headliners. Just have to use a foam roller to put it on.

I haven't had any problems with the Weldwood cement, except that it smells very strong when you are applying it.

I attached 2 pictures to show you some different options you have other than stock material. The first one is a Supra headliner that was done using crushed velvet and has the "Supra" emblem embossed in it. The second is a Probe headliner and visors that I did using suede. Both were done using the Weldwood cement.

Almost forgot your question about sound deadener...

The stock padding is sufficient for where it is and what it needs to do. I wouldn't worry about replacing it with dynamat or anything like that. You really wouldn't notice much difference if any.

I will have to get some pictures of mine later, it might sound "ghetto" but it looks pretty good and people dont even notice until I say something. Mine was sagging real bad so I took it out and took the fabric completley off. Then I went at it with a wire wheel to get all the nasty old glue off it. After that all I did was spray paint it black and let it dry for a while and reinstalled it and it looks awesome. And then you never have to worry about redoing it or it sagging again.
