hey guys, i have a question that has been eating at me for a while now. i have a 91,non-turbo eclipse.came stock with a f5m22 manual trans. and reverse is starting to go( is gone). i also have a f5m33 manual trans. out of a talon turbo that was given to me by a friend. its a good trans but i dont have the clutch and flywheel to throw in it to make it work.i have lots of time on my hands and have been trying to get to know everything i can about these little beast's. i am still lacking the knowledge of the transmissions though.and i just dropped a mint into getting new clutch and flywheel before the tranny went out.

so here is the question.....
is it possible to take the f5m33 and put it in a f5m22 case? if so, what would i need to do this?

its the 4g63 n/t with the throttle body from an automatic and the intake cam of a turbo. its all clean under the hood, no vaccume's or bull$*t. its not my daily driver right now but i am trying to build a good and reliable driver. i know there are advantages and disadvantages to each tranny but i want to know if i can build a realy great one using the best of each.... as far as what happened to reverse, well its easy. i noticed it wasn't sliding in like it should be a couple of years ago but figured i would gt to it when i rebuilt the engine. well, i built the engine and its time to see about that tranny, but it sat for 2 years with no fluid, no axles and when i tried to get it to go into gear, it just wont go.i put the gm synchromesh tranny fluid in it like everyone said but its kinda hard to get into the other gears as well now. i figured it was just F*#@KED after sitting for so long.

well, its been a while since i posted on this so i wanted to give an update... i replaced all the brackets and lined everything up correctly and replaced all the bushings and such i could get to without ripping the entire car apart. in doing so i discovered a shifter cable had snapped the inner core( shifter cables have a solid steel core with a braided and wrapped outer). i cut back the core places where it was bent and hanging up and it freed most of my shifter problems up. not having the solid inner core however makes it and extremely long throw and gives me a lot of trouble with getting into reverse. nobody seems to make this part that i can find. are there any aftermarket mods anyone knows of that might help?

Get the cables from one of the many partouts that are always going on and replace them.
