Hey, I am about to have my tranny rebuild by a local shop, I'm getting the parts together first. So far I have bought the clutch which is a FX200 with the full kevlar face disk. Now my question is I was thinking of getting a flywheel as well. I was looking at the F1 Prolite Flywheel on ebay. Ive searched online for reviews on this but have only found things on the there clutches not the flywheel. So would it be better to get the f1 or just go with the Fidanza, Im kinda not leaning to the fidanza due to it being so light. But haven't read anything about the f1 so I'm not really sure.

My goals for the car are just around 325-350 whp. It is also fwd and my DD.

So if anyone has any experience with this flywheel if they could let me know how it worked with them and on there setup. As well if you could recommend it.
Thanks in advance.

All I can tell you is that I really enjoy my reasonably priced, not-too lightweight Competition Clutch flywheel. I'd not be too eager to jump on the eBay deal simply for warranty, quality, customer service, user reports etc.

The one that I am looking at says that it meets or exceeds SFI 1.1 specifications, weights 11.5 lbs, made from 4140 forged chromoly steel.
I looked at the competition clutch one and its a little out of my budget since I am already spending so much on the rebuild and the clutch.
Is the fidanza one a pain to deal with in Daily Driving?

I think the Fidanza is more like 8 lbs. It's aluminum not steel. Here is a quote about there flywheel: "No chromemoly can compete with the awesome serviceablity, strength and superior design of Fidanza's aluminum flywheels."

I have daily driven with mine for over 5 years and never had any drivability or any other issues.

Hope this helps!

Ive used the clutch and chromoly flywheel from them in my galant for over 2 years, used one in my gf's 2g until we blew it up and in fact have another one for her new GSX about to put in the car once its built. go for it.

I have the the f1 prolite flywheel from ebay with an exedy stage 2 racing clutch, no issues, no stress cracking, I went with the chromoly instead of the fidanza aluminum because every review I read for multiple applications all stated aluminum flywheels should not be used in turbo or supercharged applications because they can easily warp when heated up

I have the F1 flywheel along with the F1 six puck clutch, the clutch has held anything i can throw at it, i removed the inspection plate on the tranny last week and for almost 2 years of abuse and trying to slip the clutch off the line my flywheel shows no signs of discoloration on the backside as of yet. i was running 22psi last year on my pte5031.

Go to Road Race Engineerings web site and read the articles on flywheels, very interesting. They have a custom one you might be interested in.

Fidanza isn't more costly? I must not have looked too closely at the pricing.
EDIT: Yep, the Fidanza is about $80 cheaper than the comp. Maybe because of the aluminum construction? Almost all the other choices available are in a similar price range to the comp. and AFAIK they're all chromoly too so that must be a large factor in the cost of the part.

I like the idea of a replaceable surface for the flywheel but 8lbs is just too light for me.

I've never heard of this. I have never had any problems with the chromoly ACT flywheels.

I should have qualified my statement. I only saw evidence with the two JUN chromoly flywheels I used, and when I contacted Road Race Engineering asking about alternatives they agreed that chromoly in general wasn't a viable material for flywheels due to propensity to heat crack relative to other materials. It's somewhat hinted at on their flywheel article here:
RRE's Clutch And Flywheel Tech Info

When I contacted them it was for a replacement and they told me they stopped selling them because of the premature failures that I'd seen and they too had seen. They didn't cite the JUN design but rather the material and on that plus my experience (which is limited!) was what I based the statement. I should have qualified it though but figured it was somewhat common knowledge since after JUN's chromoly flywheel disappearance from the market I hadn't seen a chromoly flywheel for sale for our cars for a long time (doesn't mean they weren't around).

Too light based on what? Light flywheels are not difficult to drive and an 8lbs. flywheel really isn't anything notable. Doesn't take you much time at all to learn how to drive it and it's not really that different than a stock one.

I remember reading that about JUN flywheels a long time ago. Supposedly they were just way to thin if I can remember correctly.
