Just recently replaced my old one with basically the same one which is external waste gated flanged and almost every weekend I have to re tighten the bolts down .. My big 3inch exhaust is wiggling them out I've tried lock tight and nothing and also my bolt for my o2 housing wiggles out to what should I do.

Hey bud:

This is a common problem. The first problem is they are stretch and harden to yeild bolts. Which means one time use.. Proper fix is to replace them with new bolts, They will stretch then harden and hold themselves in...

But that obviously sucks ;)

We used to just tack weld them with the TIG welder. Just the smallest amount of tack is all that is needed.

If you do not know anyone with a welder, the only other option I can think of is safety wire.. Remove the bolts one at a time and drill through the head of them.. Once all 4 are don, tighten as desired and use safety wire for all of them, usually just wire them to each other works just fine.

So your choices are:
New Bolts
Tack Weld the bolts you have
Safety wire
or
keep tightening them once a week

Good luck!

Just get some locking nuts. That is what is on there from the factory. I've built many of these cars and have yet to weld the nut to the stud.

bryanwheat - Hey bud:

Your talking about the head exhaust manifold studs. He is not talking about those. He is talking about turbo and O2 bolts.

Hope this helps!

New bolts seem to work every time. I would always replace bolts and studs that have anything to do with exhaust.

Go to the hardware store and get the bolts the have the hole in the end and get castle nuts and use a cotter pin. I dont know if i would be welding them. Even a small tack might make it a pain cause they do stretch it could cause a leak after some time.

get some new bolts and studs maybe a brand new set wont be as stretched as the ones you have in

high temp thread locker (with car cool set it in tighten and give it time to settle then run car) lock washers will work also or go to ace hardware and buy grade 8 bolts they work just fine.
