ok my talon just got louder under the engine, jacked it up and checked the piping for holes. noticed theres a hole about an inch or more right before the converter. now before the converter right after the o2 sensor theres a piping thats like a wire mesh, whatever its called? I was going to remove that and put a straight pipe instead of that and cover that leak hole. would I gain some power by removing that piping?

The mesh you are referring to is the flex section which allows for engine movement. Replacing that with a straight pipe will not get you any power gains; in fact it will be a pain in the ass for you since the normal engine movement would cause the straight pipe to stress fracture.

aftermarket downpipes are cheap these days, just buy a replacement and call it a day. If you are really strapped for money have a buddy just weld up the hole in your existing downpipe.

What he said. Keep the flex, either get a new downpipe or have yours welded.

You can get a good downpipe for about $80-100 shipped. Can't beat that. Might eveb be able to find a used one cheaper than that. Good luck.

What about it? Yes removing the catalytic converter will give you a little more power, but its also illegal and will make getting your car inspected a lot harder in most states. Since you have a 2g I think it will also throw a CEL. If I were you I'd just get a new downpipe with a flex section and call it a day. Hope this helps!

Yes. It would be an exact replacement of the part you currently have on the car. Since you are NA just find someone parting out a stock car and buy the part off them.
