I know this was said before because i seen it but cant find what im looking for.

I own a 5 speed 98 eclipse gsx and i bought it with 132k miles on body and 150 miles on top end stage 3 build. I t has a srs exhaust on it and the cat is off. The last owner said it has a test pipe but doesn't but anyways i don't remember how it sounds as i sent it out 3 days later after owning it to have the bottom end built. It had the stock turbo and mani so im adding a precision 52/52 ball bearing turbo, a evo 3 mani,wally 255, 780 injectors and other go fast parts. But my question is how can i get my exhaust to sound louder but nice and ricer sounding. I know when getting an exhaust you cant just go for sound but for other reasons that have to do with the motor which im not all sure about as im not a exhaust person really like i know about exhaust like brand wise but anyways i owned a 91 tsi fwd before my gsx so when owning the tsi i looked on youtube for exhaust clips and such and always came up to this clip and liked how the exhaust sounded but i like for it to be louder to make the car sound nice, Not a ricer louder but just the right pitch. this is the clip

. I want my car to sound sick/nice, be fast 400hp this year then 600hp next year and look clean/hot. So what would you say is the best exhaust for what im looking for, what would i need, brand, size, price and brand? I was thinking thermal r&d like that video but i don't know for the price i could get a better one or if i should pay more and get something else as i seen more expensive ones. I am not really a fan of the brands thats manly sell on ebay so id like to get a name brand one that isnt a ebay one. I know ebay isnt a brand but still . I want it to sound like a dsm not a honda and be able to hear that turbo perfectly.

I think the best sound is the thermal R&D exhaust. Pretty sure thats what it is in vid 1 and definitely is in vid 2. Also, what helps is a full 3" exhaust, no cat. You could also just get the muffler you want and take it to an exhaust shop for the full 3" piping.

But isn't it better like lets say get the whole thermal r&d 3" exhaust system piping over any custom work and wouldn't it sound better and lets say re sale value wouldn't it sell better if it's not custom? Also if i go custom which im not sure if it would sound the same wouldn't it cost more at the shop then the whole thermal r&d system

If your o2 housing is the Mitsubishi style, and are worried about resale, then just go for a Megan Racing downpipe and the Thermal exhaust. You yourself could pick up a used thermal to save a few bucks and resell down the road for very little loss. Good sound, I just don't care for the obnoxious looking tailpipe.

An obnoxious looking tail-pipe probably means it looks like a massive fart pipe. It also tips off the cops. Having a subdued looking exhaust, or painted black sometimes helps.

Or you could do a stock looking exhaust & not get as many tickets, or harassed by the cops, or be a "sleeper" I would try running an exhaust cutout:

An 02 Housing just houses the 02 Sensor. Having a nice aftermarket one is an upgrade because the stock cast 02 housing is restrictive.

-An 02 dump just lets the wastegate open on the turbo & dumps straight under the car, instead of back into the exhaust going back towards the rear.

You can see Youtube vids on all of this & hear how they sound, etc.

You really get what you pay for in an exhaust sometimes. Other people swear by the cheap FleaBay stuff though.

Just trying to get ideas but I want to have my exhaust sound like the thermal r&d exhaust from the first video I posted but louder not ricer but a good loud and an open dump. You cut out a section of the exhaust and weld it in. The valve opens and closes with a remote.

Aftermarket Stainless o2 housings are smoother usually bigger and will outflow stock o2 housings. Open dump is simply using a modified o2 housing to quickly dump your waste gases outside, Instead of recirculating them back into your exhaust, when you reach full boost. There's alot of posts about this, no significant power gains just mainly for sound. I have one and I love it (when I want to be obnoxious ) defiantly turns heads when u hit the gas.
