* Exhaust bolts

To anyone out there who has done this before how did you get the bolts that bolt the down-pipe to the cat off? My compressor is down and cant use my impact. The only other option will be to rent a electric one. Will this work?

I have always been able to get them out with a breaker bar. It takes a bit of repositioning to get the right angle and leverage to break them loose.

I've only had hand tools and managed just about everything I've attacked so far. Try using some heat, rust penetrater, and a large breaker bar.

Yeah... i knew i was going to hear about it! Oh well, i tried with a 3 foot breaker and still wont budge

If the bolts are stuck, spray them with liquid wrench.

PB blaster works well too. you can also try heating it up with a blow torch.

Lol @ the title.

To properly remove the exhaust bolots I usually spray them down with pb blaster and use a 6" Breaker bar and a brass hammer. Tap the socket on the bolt a few times, turn, tap, turn tap, then stick on the breaker bar and smack the end of it a few times.

Okay now im stuck. I tried a electric impact wrench today and the bolts didn't budge. If that cant get the bolts off i don't see what can.
Is it possible that the bolts are really stuck in there from all the heat cycles? Can it be so bad to where the bolts will not come off?

Here's how I learned to remove oil passage plugs from engine blocks:

Heat the plug with a torch until it's cherry red and then hit it with a stick of paraffin wax and presto!

The wax gets drawn down into the threads and lubricates it for easy removal.

The other way to remove exhaust is with a reciprocating saw

tried pb sat for 4 hours, didn't help. Impact still couldn't get it off. I heard good things about cnc freeze off ill try that today. UGH
* don't have access to a torch.

Have access to Autozone? Or any parts store? They have mini propane torch kits that includes a cylinder of propane, and the torch itself. $15 I think.

I've been applying pb blaster for 4 days, worked for the brake caliper mount bolts, it took some time, but once it got down into the threads it was like butter...I've been whacking it towars the passenger side with a 16mm open/close wrench... am i even turing it the right way??

Id like to attempt to use my torch, problem is the penetrating oil i used is highly flammable under the torches heat. The bolts aren't threaded to be loosened clockwise are they? They will not budge in any way trying to turn em counter-clock.

spray penetrating oil on it every day for a couple days. It'll come loose, if not just break them and put new ones in.

If your using fire make sure its on the nut not the bolt. The heat expands whatever your hitting it with, beyond that have the breaker bar ready and muscle up.
