* Exhaust bolts

To anyone out there who has done this before how did you get the bolts that bolt the down-pipe to the cat off? My compressor is down and cant use my impact. The only other option will be to rent a electric one. Will this work?

Sorry about the title, * exhaust bolts. While i was typing it posted the title and i couldn't correct it, had to go back and click edit to put the description in. ^^

If your using fire make sure its on the nut not the bolt. The heat expands whatever your hitting it with, beyond that have the breaker bar ready and muscle up.

Theres no nut, its just a bolt
Guess ill try some heat tomorrow and see what happens. If that don't work i either have a fire to deal with or ill have to do what a couple others suggested break, drill out, and insert new bolts.

+1 for PB blaster, breaker bar & muscle.. but then again Ive broken 3 breaker bars in a row until those finally gave..

If you break the head off the bolt, how do you get the rest out?

At auto parts and hardware stores, There's a kit that has drill bit's that are designed to cut into the metal and back the bolts out. If that doesn't work atleast it'll give you a starting hole to set drill bits in...then you progress to the size bolt you will be using to replace the oem...try not to take out more then the size of the oem bolt...these kits should also include inserts...spring like things to replace the threads...

If mine breaks i want to drill all the way through, and then use a bolt and nut...

I'm gonna spray it down with pb and grab this 50-75lb iron beam (my bro jacked my torque wrench/breaker bar) and start beating the crap out of it...Hopefully it will come out...but if it breaks that's ok..then i can replace it with some zinc coated steel..I was thinking about slaping some liquid rubber tape over it to prevent the rust build up, so it'll be easier to unbolt when i get a cat back system...but that'll just burn up and harden...what else could i use?

i was thinking about using anti seize on the bolts. You could give that a try along with spray painting the places that are rust prone, my test pipe is getting that treatment, the flanges/welds are kinda rusty.

You should always use anti-sieze (or Maalox ) on all exhaust and turbo bolts...and anywhere that stainless fasteners come into contact with a different metal.

It's not a bad idea to use it on your spark plug threads either.
