evo8 or gm maf on 1g?

I would get link, run a gm maf, or get speed density.

ok,i had link on my 1g but had to sell it to fund my rebuild so i understand why people love link, and like i said i plan to get link with my 2g set-up with speed density but i dont have enough cash to get the 2g and link on 2 vehicles.I am familiar with link and safc and want to go with either safc and evo8 maf or gm maf-maf-t.I am fairly happy with my set-up now but i am just looking for a little more response in the lower end than what i am getting. So either evo8 maf and 680's with safc or gm maf with maf-t is what im trying to decide

Ok get the maf with 680s and get some sort of tuning device for injectors that big im not sure but, the safc may not regulate 680s, i think it stops at 650s.

Like said above If you have a Eprom Ecu. just compensate for your mods that way... .

Exactly,im going to go with the evo8 maf with my 560's and install the new evo8 maf after i get my ecu socketed and chipped to account for everything.I did a boost leak test tonight and holy s##t,there was a HUGE leak at the t.b. and intake mani.Basically it wouldnt even hold more than 5lbs when i pumped 25lbs into the tester. So i went ahead and fixed the leak and needless to say my throttle response issues are no longer an issue. It pulls so hard that i pulled off the m.b.c. and will run off of the evo3 internal wastegate at 14lbs until i can get used to it.I cant wait to run the evo8 maf after the chip is installed and see how it runs then, along with all the other options we are burning into the chip it should be sweet. Thanks man!

I was gonna say an evo 8 MAF with evo 8 knock sensor obdII port and evo 8 ECU... but thats a bit of work and can be hard to source a good evo 8 ECU LOL. No, Link would be a damn good option to go with. Good luck and happy motoring brother:thumb:

Save for a real tuning solution like DSMLink. You will save money in the long run from being tuned properly instead of having your airflow readings altered and thus timing all advanced to hell.

Dont rule out the evo8 ecu conversion it was worth my while but I didn't understand all the rom stuff LOL. With that being said I made the switch up ecmlink full and haven't looked back. Granted evoscan just came out with mobile data screen with gps. Good luck!

People never stop amazing me... nobody is even bothering to say why half the time...

In the end it doesn't matter how your car is tuned or what you use to do it so long as your not using something like Safc to alter the signals to the Ecu...

The major difference in all tunings systems is the GUI that you use to accomplish the end result...(yes there are upsides and downsides To ANY system you use) but as long as your achieving the same goal... a proper tune does it really matter? what route you go? in the end they are all doing the same thing Editing code.

The OP Stated what there plans are and clearly stated Dsm/ecmlink wasn't an option an they weren't going that route with this car...

So why continue to try to sell them on it? I see so many threads on here of people saying get link like it will tune itself then the poster a week later is putting up a log with a Wot pull two minutes after installing it asking why they have 10° timing being pulled at 5-5.5k

Don't get me Wrong V3 ECMLINK is a great product but it is not the end all of tuning solutions and anyone with a real understanding of what is really going on and what to do about it should be able to use anything regardless of how nice of a GUI it has... Everything has a learning curve...

BTW these are Rhetorical questions

What else is a real tuning solution then, and doesn't piggyback the airflow signal? It's not worth doing improperly, and for a 1g, the only other proper thing than DSMLink I know of is to burn a chip, but that industry seems to have been scooped up by the monopoly known as ECMTuning.

That's pretty conservative price wise. to setup Sd

but either way there's plenty of options out there that will get the job done for cheaper then ecmlink for the DIY type... .

the Evo/h8 can be good option if you know what your doing and don't already have a Eprom Ecu.

Okay thats nice, but what about finding support for the product and knowledge of the platform?

Good luck getting anywhere near the service and support, not to mention the archives of information on the forums, from AEM, MS, MoTeC, or even Jackal, and EVOScan that you get with ECMLink.

At least half the reason you buy link is for the community behind it and the guys running the show.

OP FWIW, I run SD with V3 Full, but I calibrate with an Evo8 MAS and adapter cable to a 1G MAS Plug.

The link forums and the help you get is worth the purchase of link alone.
