The stock tire is a 245/40R18. My guess is a 265 might be too wide for the wheels.

Man you're good. I was looking in the same place and answered my own question but a beat me to it. I was told that 265 will fit. I thought 255 was the widest tire that should go on a 8.5 inch wide wheel. I want to go wide but I also want a wheel/tire combo that fits and performs right. It might be a heck of a wheelset for a 2g. 19 pounds is fairly light for a 18X8.5 wheel. I know the BBS name pretty well, but are these stock EVO X BBS wheels soft and easily damaged like the stock DSM wheels or are they pretty stout? The Enkei wheels are just too heavy for my taste.

I use Evo wheels for track wheels. Didn't have to roll any fenders and had no fitment issues. I like using the because they use stock lugs and don't require hub-centric rings for install. Plus they are relatively light and easy to pick up for a good price.

I'm running evo9 rims on my gsx. One word of advice is that they will rub on hard turns even with stock suspension. But I'm running 245/45/17 tires so that might be the problem. I tried to lower the car with the tokico hp kit and it was impossible. There was like a 1mm gap between the fender and the tire on the front driver side because of the 2g sag issue. The right side had about 1 finger gap and the rears where fine with a 2 finger gap. Make sure you get the right size tire when you get your evo wheels, don't be an idiot like me.

Some info I've seen but not witnessed personally is that 97-99 seem to get away with a slightly bigger tire in the rear than 95-96. Although technically there is no difference between the two models. Some run 255/40-17 while others say they rub like mad. When someone reports what "fits" and what doesn't, it's always prudent to glance at the year DSM. Tire manufacturer also plays a part as different brands of the same size are actually very different in size.

I run evo IX rims. The tire on there now is an Yoko Advan A10 225/50-17 and they have very little room on the inside corner. This is likely because of the height of the tire, not the width. Point is, both need consideration. "Actual size" is always good to look up if the specifications are listed. Don't forget when you're looking at "actual size" to consider the width of the rim the tire was mounted on. This will affect actual size.

I have EVO 8 Rims on my 2g talon with 245/45/17 tires lowered on eibach prokit with stock shocks. I only rub on huge bumps so I have yet to roll my fenders. Also, my tires are huge but don't really stock out much at all. I think they look pretty sick on there and bad ass from the back with these wide ass tires!!

I've seen a white 2g with them around the bay area now and again with RRE sticker and license plate. I wonder if thats the same one. I always see the car parked, nobody around.

I am running some fat BF Goodrich G-Force Pros, 245/45/17s. Banging wide!! Rips corners like crazy and grips quite well also.

They are a +35mm offset I believe.

Not to nitpick, but the Evo 8 wheels are +38mm offset.
