Alright i think i have my mind set on the evo III big 16g only thing is what do i buy with it in need a list of everything i could possibly need. everything in car is stock. eagle talon tsi awd 1991. thanks. Oh also. i would like to know a good exhaust manifold to get with it if u guys could help me with that as well. thanks. ask any questions but i dont know much.ROFL

I wouldn't get that turbo just yet if your car is 100% stock. Without anything else, it won't create much more power than your 14b and will spool a bit slower. With that in mind, to answer your question, if you get the turbo, you should also get:

2 1/2" or 3" turboback exhaust, evo3 o2 housing, evo3 exhaust manifold, intake pipe, boost controller, boost gauge, bigger injectors, higher flowing fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and a tuning device such as DSMLink.

I'd look into getting the above things before getting the turbo tho, if you ask me. Good luck!

you could put it on but before you do make sure your wastegate hole is ported so it wont creep and get an exhaust and leave the boost stock untill you get pump regulator and injectors and somthing to tune

get an FMIC

A high flow stock Manifold from dsmtuners

a fuel tuning device such as an apexi afc or a neo

then a boost controller just dont turn it up past about 16 psi my freind did and killed his engine

but if anything else and all else fails just stay stock and enjoy it

It allows you to control and fine tune fuel trims, airflow, ignition timing and other important stuff. Also lets you log what's going on inside your engine so you don't do anything stupid :thumb:. It let's you max out your setup to it's full potential, a really underrated mod in my opinion.

i would recommend a manual boost guage along with the other mods mentioned /\/\

Heres what I have- Hallman MBC, Greddy RS BOV recirced, SS O2 housing with dump tube, 3" Megan DP, Apexi N1 3" catback, 550s, Buschur FPR, SAFC II, Injen intake, Punishment Racing FMIC. This is all I did before I got my EVOIII.

Hope that helps you out.

I also have A GM 3" MAF with translator waiting to go on when I put the EVOIII 16G and EVOIII mani on, im gonna convert to a blow through setup.

Turbo should be going on next weekend!

I wouldn't get that turbo just yet if your car is 100% stock. Without anything else, it won't create much more power than your 14b and will spool a bit slower. !

I agree, if your turbo isn't bad then its capable of 300hp and low 12 sec 1/4 mile times with the right setup. Work on getting your car to that level with supporting mods and then change your turbo.

On a side note, if you turbo is bad.. I would still recommend finding a used 14b for 100-150 and spend the difference wisely!:thumb:

If it were my car I would do it in this order,

-Boost Gauge! "Is a must, when you install it you might as well build yourself a boost leak tester because your going to need it in the future."

-Intake pipe & filter "Might as well upgrade to a 2g mass air flow sensor but you don't have to."

-Turbo back exhaust

-2g exhaust manifold "Can get these for cheap and port them out to flow plenty for 400hp."

-Your can grab a evo3 o2 housing or something tubular off ebay "what I did"

-Front mount intercooler "This would take place of the evo3 turbo because its going to cost some money for a nice setup!"

That pretty much takes care of your intake and exhaust. Now for fuel,

Depending on what you decide to tune with,

Cheap yet effective, used afc-Usually goes for 100-150
Then there's dsmlink, you will have to do a little more research to understand what this is capable of but to give you an idea it has put dsm's in the 8's! Brand new is just over 500 plus you need an eprom ecu and a laptop.

Wideband a/f gauge, This is what you use to tune with the afc or link. Basically what you do is tune your fuel trims until your running a perfect 14.9 a/f ratio "on the gauge" for low throttle and cruising and you tune for 11-11.5 a/f ratio for wide open throttle.

Another helpful tool if you decide to go the afc route is, a logger. If you go with dsmlink you wont need a logger because you can log with the software thats included. Basically the logger help you monitor knock so you have an Idea where you at and if you current tune/boost level is safe.

By this point you probably have a good idea of tuning and your ready to start getting the most out of the stock turbo but you need more fuel.

Depending on what your goals are with the car, assuming you only want to max out this turbo and not have to go into the motor a good setup would be..

AFC/Wideband/Logger
-190lph walbro f/p
-Rewire kit for the fuel pump
-650cc injectors, you could get away with some evo injectors if you can find them for cheap but if you buy new injectors then get some 650's so you have some room to play.

Anyway thats the basics behind what I would do, of course I would do all maintenance FIRST!

Why in the world do all of you keep recomending the Evo III o2 housing? It will not bolt up properly to a stock exhaust and even if he does get a aftermarket one he has to order one specifically for that o2 housing?
