hi, i cant seen to find a thread on this and im sure im putting this in the wrong area, but it wont let me post this anyplace else. so if this needs to be moved, sorry mods.

but awhile back i saw a manifold to put the stock evo 8 turbo on a 1st or 2nd gen and was wondering if that was out on the market. if so can anyone point me in the right direction to purchase it or if someone has one they want to sell just let me know.

or even if anyone has done this can give me any info, like numbers and pics of how it looks.

OP, I think it's a great idea since you already have the turbo, and although pricey, the benefits on a daily driver would be awesome. Now if revshift would consider a price drop then we're talking.

However I do see spawnedx's point that comparable results could b had at much lower costs.

My only question is how much could the evo 8/9 turbo put down with the proper supporting mods?

John and I were talking about this last night, after this whole thread went down hill. Ill snap some shots at some point before, its on the car for good. Maybe Ill bring it home and put it in the soft box/studio set up.

From what I have seen, mid 400s and mid 10 seconds on a stock Evo 9 turbo.

You have to realize that, its not a cast manifold and it takes more than a few minutes to put together. Right now, this is the cheapest manifold out there for this set up.

Yes sir, like what was posted earlier. While the manifold is not $100 it does save you from buying two gates, and the headache of installing them.
 
I don't like MIVEC, I just like that it hasn't been done, it's a challenge.

LOL you really need to come out of the cave, If mitsu didn't think mivec allowed a vehicle to produce more and smoother power i dont think they would have put so much money into mass producing it and placing it in all there current models. Same Idea with there turbos, they went towards twin scroll technology since 1995 for a reason. to produce 20g power of a evo9 16g sound like a improvement to me

No,not really on the other hand, ill send you some pictures of my work, considering that i've done most of the isometric drawings that go through schools, hospitals, and gas stations. I honestly don't see people dying from a blown up manifold as apposed to a blown up gas line. As i was saying, i see a few things that you guys could improve on in the welds. Yes, they look good but i see area of improvement, not only towards you but many of the people that make manifolds. I was going to post a picture of the flaws that i see, but that would be ignorant. I dont really see the quality of a piece untill its right in front of me.

Kiggly's had Mivec on his FWD for at least a couple years now. ;)

I also didn't say I dislike MIVEC, how quickly you all jump to assuming that not liking means disliking.

Kind of hard to have an opinion on something you have absolute no knowledge or reason to investigate. This is one of those cost analysis situations...I have done my analysis and determined I cannot afford the cost.

However, I can't say I am shocked that Kiggly got it done, man is simply a genius.
 
One last question I have, if a person decides to go with an evo 8 turbo will the O2 housing need to be from the evo a well or would you need to fab a new exhaust from the turbo back

The o2 housing itself faces the wrong direction I believe. I took some more pictures last night. Ill have to upload them once I get out of class.

As far as the exhuast goes, the set up on Raver's car is done to allow the use of any exhuast available for the car.
 
So if it faces the other side (since the turbo is turned around) is there any available housing or wil custom fabrication be the only answer

The stock housing and any other 8+ housing will work as well.

Ill be able to run a Evo IX turbo (which I loved when I had my Evo) then upgrade to a Evo Twin Scroll based turbo. this should be really nice as im still running a 14b turbo on my 98 GSX so im pretty much starting from scratch and I like trying new things

So if I get this Revshift manifold and I can bolt on a Evo 8-9 turbo(Got it)... BUT how about the o2 housing? Im still confused can I use the stock evo 8-9 o2 housing or do I have to buy a revshift o2 housing? Pictures of this setup on/off a DSM would be great to help explain everything a bit

Looks fantastic and I cant wait to see what it looks like with mock-up.. Can you get us a few different angles also like from top, side, underneath just so I can see where things will go and how the DP will line up? Also if you have it could you maybe slide the stock o2 housing on there and see if we could use a flange style DP?

How much is the o2 housing gunna run?

Not a problem, I was going to get those shots today but, we got caught up with some other stuff.

As far as the flange thought goes, that is something you would need to talk to Revshift about. My opinion is, go Vband. You will love it when you need to remove the turbo, or the exhaust. One bolt, and its apart. :thumb: If John doesn't pop in here on this subject, Ill ask him next time I see him.

For getting a shot from under the car. Maybe, Ill have to see if my big ass will fit under the car on the stand.

The price I think is fair. It is a hand built tubular header that, takes away the need for two wastegates, and gives you the options of killer turbos that bolt on. Also, its not made with cheap thin wall stainless like the cheaper manifolds out are made from.
 
I would love to run an evo9 turbo! seeing as I want to autocross/road race my car.

However I cant warrant that kind of money to do so. Bottom line I have nowhere near the experience or suspension to be competitive. Plus the SM class is basically dominated by the evo of doom around here

Nice piece though. Maybe when i get my cushy engineering job ill be giving you guys a call :)
 
Well I understand why the price is high and that is why I have already started my turbo fund for this exact setup since I wanted to go to a 16g and then a green I believe ill use this manifold and o2 housing for the Evo twin scrool housing for a little extra it cant hurt and I get to keep the reliablility of the MHI units with better performance.....

Hopefully the o2 housing isnt to badly priced and im guessing he will have a DP to go with this setup for a GSX and GST models(GSX for me)

Please keep us updated as far as pictures, fitment, and prices on everything

I'm interested in this setup as well being I want quick spool but how much difference are we seeing? How much sooner does it spool then a regular e3 16g. And with this manifold you would only be able to run evo based turbos correct? And don't you lose top end with a twin scroll?

The only one of these manifold/o2 housings in existence is mine. My car will be up and running soon for testing, so unfortunately this info isn't available yet. I was planning on a big intro post for this setup once my car is running and I can show some logs and maybe a dyno sheet.

I'll try and get you guys some pics mocked up in the engine bay, as I still have the mockup motor/trans in my Spyder.

I would compare similarly equipped Evos to DSM's, as far as stock turbo vs. E316g goes. My thoughts are that we should see significant mid-range gains over the "DSM' based 16g, with similar or more top end due to the larger housing and more efficient aero.

The entire point of this manifold was/is to run an Evo 8-9 style turbo on a DSM, yes.
