hi, i cant seen to find a thread on this and im sure im putting this in the wrong area, but it wont let me post this anyplace else. so if this needs to be moved, sorry mods.

but awhile back i saw a manifold to put the stock evo 8 turbo on a 1st or 2nd gen and was wondering if that was out on the market. if so can anyone point me in the right direction to purchase it or if someone has one they want to sell just let me know.

or even if anyone has done this can give me any info, like numbers and pics of how it looks.

thanks
martin

I already made up my mind and will be going this route as an evo 8/9 turbo could be found for the same price as a evo 3 16g. For a daily driver, the best thing you could have is a twin scroll turbo. I'm only waiting on your results and pics once installed.

Seems there is a big rave over this so far...
Im just waiting on pictures to see how everything looks in the engine and fits. I believe this will be 1 of the bets ways to go if everything works right and it is right up my alley since I loved my Evo IX and am wanting a Green for my car so this hould be 1 heck of a DD DSM if this works out how it is suppose to.

Cant wait to see some real-time results/logs on this setup along with the pictures to go with it...

DSMraver what is your actual setup going to consist of as far as fuel mods, cams, internals, etc if you dont mind sharing....

Pictures are coming, we just got done taking a bunch in the garage a few minutes ago. Detroit Style will post them ASAP.

My initial setup for the Spyder is going to be a 2.4l 4g64 shortblock with a 2g head, FP2's, and this turbo kit with an Evo 9 turbo. Fuel for now is E85, 880's, and a surge-tank with an Aeromotive Pro Series pump fed from the stock 2g AWD tank and an intank pump. The car has a *bunch* more done to it, but that's the important motor stuff.

That's just to get the car running/driving, I'll be building a 2.4l LR, 2.2l SLR, or 2.0l motor soon after with a DPR cloverleaved 1g head, and probably FP4R's. Too much work on other people's cars lately to get work on mine done!

HOLY CRAP! Deffinetly not stock by any means and that little turbo with twin scrll should spool like it is smaller than a 14b.... Very nice setup and cant wait to see pictures! Nice to hear that atleast the person testing this has knowledge with DSM's and all area will be covered since I dont think youd want junk on your personal car so thanks for the feed back and Ill be sure to mention you once I get the turbo setup this summer

thats some nasty street car set up. LOL

The pictures you have been waiting for! its not my best work but, I did what I could in the cramped confines of a warm windless garage. :D

Well, I guess I'm limited to how many pictures I can put in one post. So, here is a link to them.

And now I am convinced to run this setup! :thumb: The tax return has been put away to save up for the whole setup minus turbo since ive already got the IX turbo for cheap:hellyeah:
I wanna see how the J-Pipe for the IX Turbo is gunna be ran but other than that I thing it is golden!
*Has plenty of clearence for a Passenger side fan which is all I have now
*The DP situation looks like you can run either/or V Band or OEM o2 housing but a custom DP is going to be need unless they make 1 for the V Band housing? :)
*Construction of the manifold is beautiful and the pictures are pretty nice I must add showed all details very well so thanks for convincing me and im sure a few other people on going this route....

Raver was talking to John at Revshift about the flange/down pipe ideas. I'm not sure where it ended up.

As you can see, if you want to wait to see the car get done so you can see where things a ran. It may be a little bit before those pictures get taken. Actually looking at the car, I can see how things will be ran in my head but, that doesn't help you very much. ROFL

How much room is there between the turbo and the block? Did the turbo have to be pushed out that far to clear the internal wastegate? Only reason I ask is there doesn't look to be any room for puller fans on the radiator. Looks like a fun setup, though!

There is about 1/2 between the actuator and the widest part of the block in that area. The spacing was done for clearance, and to maintain a smooth arc though out the primary.

i am very interested especially if an O2 housing is made that will end up in the stock DSM location so i can keep my current down pipe.

Also a VTA O2 would probably be cheaper/easier to make than the O2 housing pictured.

Would you be able to make this manifold in 1.25" runners instead?

Can u post pics for those of us with some sense to not have fb, LOL

Manifold/turbo clearance and fitment(note, everything is loosely fastened to the engine by one or two nuts/bolts.)

I just looked at it and the DP is gunna have to take a 90 deg bend just like all DP's and then another turn to make it to the back but after that it should be a straight shot! A little more complicated DP routing but other than that I see no problems unless the J-Pipe has to be made funky

Nice build is it full back together yet? What kind of numbers are you expecting out of this setup?

Hoping to drop it in today. The turbo is an Evo 8 MR turbo w/10.5 hotside, and I might be using an Evo 9 turbo instead, for now.

I'll report back as soon as it's driving! I did just get a few upgrades, like a 24x12x3.5 garrett FMIC, so she should definitely make some power! The goal for this build will necessitate an FP Black or something comparable down the line...

BTW, fitment is AWESOME, as you can see, and all the bolts/studs are easily accessible for servicing.

So, we have been delayed by customer cars and such. But, progress is slowly getting made. These pictures have been requested and I said Id get them today. Sadly, I forgot my camera so the cell phone had to make due.

Ok, so the car is done and running. This setup is just plain awesome. Boost is almost instant! I wont even waste time here. Here are some pictures of the final(for now/shakedown piping, motor, etc).
