kool. ive been thinking bout using other roms just dont know which one to go with next.

Well, I tried 96940011 just because I could. It didn't work at all. For some reason, the load was WAY off. It threw a handful of CELs too.

The problem I'm having with 90550001 v5.10 is odd. It acts like it's hitting a rev limiter, but it's not limited to a specific RPM.

Here it is. Sorry I forgot to log 2-byte load. Basically, the airflow climbs then hits a point where it then suddenly drops. The timing is fine (6-7*) and the AFR is fine up until that point (11-11.5) but then it just suddenly has the stutter. The AFR goes up to 12.5, the timing stays fine, and the airflow plateaus. :confused:

I'm trying to iron this all out by 5pm tomorrow, when I head to the drag strip to pop my car's 1320 cherry. :thumb:

EDIT: I just went out and did a few more runs. It sounds like it's missing on one cylinder when it does this. I'm just going to try a clean 90550001 ROM (non tephra) and see if I still have the problem.
I don't think it's a boost leak, because it starts to lean out, not go richer.

interesting.... im going to try some clean roms to 9417 i think and a 9653 with no tephra... trying to figure out these bugs. before i get the luxary of tephra. LOL. my question is how do i run a new 9563 (or any other rom that has the tephra xml) with out the tepra mods popping up on the tables?

I kept a clean copy of each xml file (no tephra mods). I just swap out the tephra xml for a non tephra xml.

I went and ran a clean 9055 ROM today. That stutter I had with the 9055 v5.10 is no longer there, but there's now some other sort of miss that happens every once in a while. Once I get my fuel maps sorted out, I'll turn the boost back up. I think I'm going to try running this one for a bit.

you could ask around to see if maby someone still has it (not sure i still have a non tephre mod xml) or you could just re-download ecuflash. but done be suprised if not all the tables are there or have changed names.....

I have a non tephra 9563 xml. I think it has most of the major maps defined.

Edit: Here it is. Just change .elg to .xml and put it in your evo xml folder. Just make sure to take your other 9563 xml out of the folder. I keep another folder that holds the spares.

awsome. thanx. have you rescaled your timing and fuel maps to match your loads? like i see 185 load max right now. and i rescaled the map to go 200. since im not using 260 and so i can have more resolution. do see that as being smart or unnecessary?
 
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Do you have a reason why you need more resolution? I'm perfectly comfortable and happy with the stock scaling at the moment for a fuel efficient highway sipper and a responsive track car. I'm not sure where you would realize any gain from adding the resolution there. Then again I'm rubbing up against 250 load so I would never rescale down anyway. If I pushed my car a bit harder I would have to rescale up.

As for dealing with definitions why don't you just use your tephra definitions and just ignore the tephra parts? That is what I do when I'm dealing with non-SD roms on my computer. Just because it is defined doesn't mean that it does anything to the rom.
 
I really wouldn't rescale down at all, the only reason to rescale those tables is if your hitting that limit. The stock scaling is perfect for everything your average driver needs, and that's some really low load hediki.

yea low load is because i have a stock t25 and running stock boost and it spike at about 15 psi and settles at 11-12psi... ok.. i just wanted to do it so that to change one cell i wouldn't have to change up to like 4.and this is only for the timing ignition maps. but ill put it back to normal. thanks.

Ah that makes perfect sence now, forgot about that little t25LOL. But with your setup it makes sence that you might as well get as much resolution as you can since i don't think you'll be hitting higher load cels with the stock turbo. And speaking of rescaling i need to go out and do that myself since last nights logs show 270+ load @ 24psi, and i wondered why my car was acting kinda funkyROFL.

i cant remember the post on evom but im looking for it. just so you know what your using and that its not random. but its really easy to use and accurate as well
 
Yeah i have that i just havent had much time to play with the car at all. Ill do it this weekend though, gotta do alot of stuff before the next track day!

I'm in 4th place after the car show. I got 7th in the "looks cool" and 2nd in the "has lots of go fast mods". My biggest challenge is a clean Sti. The drag racing part was supposed to be last night, but it got rained out. I'm happy, because I know I'll need to be running the higher boost #s for that.


I'm still having a stumbling problem, even with a clean 9055 non tephra rom. I'm having trouble pinning down the problem. I think it may be fuel injector related. I was able to push 20psi+ with the 450cc injectors, but they maxed out quick, so I bought some PTE 680s used. I just haven't been able to get them cleanly dialed in.

i cant get any other roms to work with ecuflash... they just wont open.. im goin to reinstall it.. im saving all my xmls... and what not that ive added... im just trying to cook up an archive.

Well, I just downloaded all the tephra 5.10 roms that are out there. After I modify the patches to the xmls, I'm going through and setting up every rom with the basics to run on my car. Then I'll be heading outside and 1 by 1 going through and seeing if they start/run. Figure I'll get some street tuning in somewhere around 2-3am. If all goes well, I'll have just enough time to check all my fluids, retorque my lug nuts, air up the tires, and clean out the hatch before I have to meet with a few friends a 7am to drive to the track. :rolleyes:

Loads of class work have kept me from doing this before tonight. :barf:

nice have you tried the vdr dyno to see about how much you make @ the wheels?

I haven't messed with that yet. The car is pulling very hard. I still need to lean it out a bit more, since I'm running about 10.8 AFR up top. It's running so rich that the person driving behind me to the event said his eyes were burning from my exhaust fumes.

My day at the track didn't go so well. My crank pulley separated in a very strange way on my 2nd run. Apparently, there's a weight that is held to the center section of the pulley with the same rubber that bonds the inner and outer pieces together. That weighted part fell off. By the time I realized it was nothing major, I had been DQ'd from my final 3 runs. :ohdamn:

The good news, I won a free day of autox in the raffle. :cool:
