engine pull question

i dont have a way of getting use of a lift and i dont have the money to pay someone to use theirs of have my engine taken out for me so i was wondering if i would be able to pull the block out of my 2g eclipse through the hood if i take the head off first? and would i be able to do that with out removing my tranny with it?

Do you have access to a garage? If so, go buy a come-along. That's what I used. Take your hood off then hook the come-along to the rafters, then to your engine, then lift away.

You can remove the engine with the tranny still attached.

i know that, but is there a way to leave it in there if possible because my tranny is fine and i need to change out short blocks and dont really want to take the tranny out and put it back in to save me some time

You'd probably waste more time trying to leave your tranny in there then if you simply pulled it with the engine.

you cant leave the tranny in because youre clutch would be blocking it from seperating when lifting the engine alone-since there isnt enough clearance on the sides. i had the same idea when i was replacing my motor but sorry, wont work.\goodluck
