My question is about accessories deletion. Specifically A/C, cruise, balance shaft & emissions sensors/components etc.

Aside from the weight reductions, and some of the hp gains from pulley resistance changes, are there other benefits to performing these modifications? :aha:

Other modification suggestions welcomed, thanks for your input :thumb:

also ease of access to the rest of the engine since there will be more space when you start eliminating components.

once the ac is gone you can move your alternator to the rear of the block also.

It makes it much easier to work on. But if its not a racecar, leave it practical. Its more comfortable and makes it easier to sell if that time ever comes, leave it all in there is my opinion....unless it dont work anyway LOL.

I bet you can find a good balance of what to remove and what to leave. If the A/C leaks, ditch it. You do lots of highway driving, keep the Cruise Control. If emissions dont bother you and you like a cleaner bay, ditch that as well. Get it? Just my 2¢

Removing things from the engine bay wont produce any negligible weight loss benefits. Maybe ten pounds, max, if even that much. It WILL create a better accessible work area. Aesthetics will improve, but really a good wash and wire tuck will give the same results.

Thanks for the input guys, those links about the component connectors will def. come in handy...

On the one hand I do have a daily driver, but creature comforts are good to have.

If I did decide to delete some things, would I have to terminate/loop circuits or reprogram the ecu etc? Or is it just a matter of disconnecting the component and clearing the trouble code? Obviously vacuum lines would need to be closed off, but I am unsure about dependencies like some that the emission sensors/ecu may have.

Thanks again,

Soon as mini-me wakes up engine removal begins today!

In the process of pulling my crank pulley off and noticed there was play with the crank shaft. Not horizontally, but vertical. Is there suppose to be any? I should note that everything has been taken off accept the crank shaft pulley and the flywheel.

Thank you,

Edit: I'm retarded, I had the rod caps off and was having a senior moment.

Are you saying you can move the end of the shaft up and down? Uhhhh. Not good. Pull oil pan and look for metal shavings
