i got a lil question for all ya'll....ok..i just bought a 91 eclipse....and when ever the engine light comes on it wont let me go over 2,000 rpms and then i have to shift all the way to 5th and then the only way i found out to get rid of it is to get up to about 40mph and then shift down to 2nd and then all the sudden it goes away.....i havent the slightest clue on what the hell is going on. so if anyone else has had this problem, let me know what it was....it would be appeciated...thanks a bunch..

That's clear. Pull the codes and figure out what the ECU is trying so hard to tell you is wrong. I use a cheap 12v piezo buzzer from Rat Shack to read the 1G ECU's on the bench and my datalogger in the car. Follow the procedure in the VFAQ or http://www.ecanfix.com/~mdhamilton/errorcodes.html Pin 1 is the + terminal.

Only time I had this happen was when My Air hose split open, the engine wasn't getting enough air compared to what the MAS was telling it, so it did exactly what you descriped.
