So I bought a 92 Eagle Talon had been sitting for years. I couldn't get it to fire. I started looking at the fuse box and everything was corroded and I cleaned it up and it started then at the flex pipe on the exhaust broke clean off so it's open manifold. It still would start while I was checking stuff but now I can every now and then get it to start and when it does it will idle then all of a sudden die. I won't loose dash lights or anything but the motor will shut off sometimes it will fire right back up sometimes it will take forever.

Certain sensors are critical to ECU to keep the car running. Cam angle sensor (CAS), Ignition transistor, coolant temp sensor come to mind. If you have corroded connectors I would check all connectors.

Just noticed you're new. I would suggest you fill out a profile with details about the car. Welcome to the site.

Thank you I appreciate it and I went threw most of the connections today and still have the same problem I might go buy a new distributor to eliminate the cam positioning sensor

Because it shuts off suddenly, your problem does sound more like a sensor issue, but don’t forget about the fuel since it’s been sitting for years.

Are you running fresh gas? How much old gas was in the tank? Rust can plug up your pickup screen and fuel filter. Are the flex sections of the fuel lines free of any splits?

Thats known as the parts cannon. Throwing parts at a car with no diagnosis is a very expensive way to do repairs. At least diagnose parts. We can g
Help. At least start with wiggling connectors ONE at a time and try to start. You may find something simple.

Thanks you guys I really appreciate the help and dogwhistele I put 10 gallons of fresh gas in it and the gage reads in between 3/4 of a tank and full so it probably has a few gallons of bad gas in it should I dump it and get all fresh
