I was driving the other night and all of sudden my engine stopped. Pulled over and wouldnt start anymore. So i had to tow it home(1st time its been on the trailer btw). I had my friend alex take a look at it a few days ago and said the timing belt broke and needs to be replaced and even some valves as well..

My dad is just telling me to just put another belt and its good to go. I want to do this the right way, but what if i follow his suggestion? Whats the consequences of just throwing on a new timing belt and calling it good? I'm aware the right way of doing this, just wanted to see what might the outcome be if i follow what my dad said..

If timing belt brakes you most definetly got some bent valves. You will work double time if you just replace the belt. The right way is to inspect the damage and go from there, not just guess a fix and call it done.

So I say pull the head apart

i second that... even if you timed the motor corectly and just slaped on a new tbelt u would lose compression because of the bent valves and your just gonna be asking for more problems down the road and thats a :nono:
