Ok im posting for a friend of mine who having issues with his 96 talon TSI AWD, hes not registered with this site so im helpin the best i can.

He's upgrading to DSMLINK and removed his AFC NEO, havn't hooked his DSMLINK up yet and currently running a stock ECU no flash, now for some reason his car doesnt run right at all, idles real low while sputtering (like its misfiring) and afr's go off the gauge lean, give it gas and does this till about 2k then it seems to run mormal past that. CEL came on so we hooked up my scan tool and got a bit of codes, the one that caught my attn was a P1104 "manufacture cntrl fuel air metering"...searched the web and keep finding its the wastgate solenoid...but its not. My first thought was make sure the MAS was hooked up and its fine, checked all the wiring on the harness to the ecu (all the plices n watnot) and its all good too so now were both lost. I dont have a spare MAS so i cant even swap to see if thats the problem but it was running fine beforet the AFC removal so i find it hard to believe it would be the MAS......Any input on this from you all would be good, need more opinions or answers!?!?

Did you re-solder the maf and tps wires on the engine harness after removing the safc?

Yessir, everything is returned to normal, wires have been taped where the bare wire was and the cut (airflow signal) wire has been re-soldered back together and taped as well, nothing seems to be working. My GUESS is either the MAF is bad or the ECU now and if thats the case then its due to the NEO, but i have no way to test it....

Being that wiring was messed with i would assume that it is still in your wiring. No reason for the ecu or maf to randomly quit working after installing the safc when they worked before.

Well i can assure you the wiring is all fine, i went thru it over n over again with the same thoughts and nothing is any different than you would find in another dsm, theres only 1 wire that requires being cut for the neo and its back together soldered and taped. All other ones have elec. tape over the exposed areas. Gotta find someone with a spare MAF and ecu i can borrow to see if either one is bad.
