I've just about recieved all my parts to assemble my engine, and I'm wondering if its going to hurt anything to assemble my engine in the cold.I have a shed but its not heated.Or should I transport my engine to a friends garage. If I do that its gonna be a pain to get the engine back to my house though. Thanks

Nah it won't hurt anything. Just being in a shed dont let dust or any foreign stuff get in your internals or anywhere for that matter, especially your bearings.

good luck

you as the builder may want to find a heater of some sort... all that cold metal will kill your fingers and hands....

I think I'll assemble the short block in the house.Thats where it is now. That way it shouldn't be too heavy. Thanks Guys.

It's hell on those fingers assembling in the cold ... tell you that much, LOL.

This post kinda turned into,Where's the weirdest place you have assembled a engine?

I'd love to see the reaction of the RA when they key in on your room for there manditory checks and see that. Hell not to mention how little room you must have left hahaha

And the smell. It had to be like sleeping in a garage for a while.

Well my first sergant didn't like it too much, thankfully I had the motor already out. Just had the stand and misc parts laying around on the cardboard. And I didn't mind the smell to much anyway, grease and oil are kind of intoxicating scents to me now ;) I love em. But as far as cold hands putting together a motor, yea deffinately not good.
