I have a blown T-25 currently in my car.. it has a noticeable amount of shaft play... what can happen if i keep running this turbo in my car...I am going to be throwing in an evo III but before i can do that i want to know... what damage can occur and what parts in the car would be in jeopardy?

Well... you will probably get away with it for some time unless it is hitting the housing. It can start to leak oil and coolant and then will eat away at both the impeller and the housing. Get a 16g... thats what im doing. In some cases i heard of metal parts from the impeller being sucked up into the intake mani --> VERY rare. In the end the turbo will just fail.

yeah i have heard of the blades going into the intake mani.... im trying to get my hands on an evo III 16g and im trying to find good enugh reasons to replace the blown one... theoretically if the blades are hitting the comp. housing couldnt chips of metal and such also damage the intercooler? im seriously just looking for ANY reason to get rid of this thing..

It will send metal dust into your motor and will leak evantually. You are not getting all the performance from it that you can. ITS SMALL AS ALL HELL. Get a 16g or at least a 14b which is also nice.

I had a shop (South Florida Performance) lose a piece of rubber hose in my intake pipe. It dislodged minutes from leaving their shop and tore tore it up, screwed up the blades bigtime and luckily it all of the rubber and blade shavings got caught in the intercooler. :barf: I had a greddy FMIC at the time. If anything happens it will most likely just get caught in the intercooler, but there's always that chance of worse happening. and please don't ever take your car to SFP! They wouldn't do anything about it and tried to tell me to blame it on the guy who sold me the new turbo. :dsm:

If you have enough shaft play that the impeller hits the housing, do not drive the car. You will grind up your turbo, and it will at the very least get sucked into your I/C. And like everyone said, there is always a chance that it can get injested into your motor.

I would not be driving with a turbo that has a large amount of shaft play. That is a direct sign that the turbo dead. The last thing you want is chunks your turbos soon to be destroyed bearing flying around your oil system causing you alot more problems than just a blown T25.

Exactly, it just isn't worth the risk. Park your car until you can afford to put a new turbo in.
