ECU from M/t work in AT?

im getting a flashable 99ecu. problem is it comes from a manual, my car is an automatic would that be a problem causing the car to not run right?
 
sweet thanks for the info, im wanting to have it tuned with my evo3 big 16g and all my add ons i have so that it will run smoothly, right now its all kidns of funk wont really kick in till about 2600rpm on boost for some reason and then not much diff in HP gein from 5-15psi u can feel the torque tho...but i have 560cc injectors to install witht he ecu so ill ahve them scaled and get this thing flashed! any advice with all that?
 
Corey is correct, the ECU doesn't take part in the transmission. The TCU controls the auto trannies, not the ECU.

I didn't say anything about a 420A.
I know that turbo 1gs have 350cc in the auto and 450cc in the manual.
Didn't think that they would swap, like on a 2g.

I have a "real" DSM too, it is a 90 Tsi AWD.
I just leave the 420A as my main car, because I don't know as much about 4g63's yet.
 
I am still curious as to why Mitsu used different part numbers, but oh well.

I'm confused as to why you think 2G turbo ECUs had different part numbers between AT and MT ECU's? CAPS doesn't show that.

With 1G's it was due to the different in the engines that required different software, so they were different parts.
 
My friend and myself both have 95 EPROMs, confirmed as we are both running link with them, his manual, mine from an automatic, different MD numbers, I will have to have him check his number again.
 
Edit: Sorry it's not the MD numbers, it's because his is a Californian and mine a Federal...

California MT
(MNGFL9M)

Federal AT
(MRGFL4M)

Those are the classification codes for the car not the ECU. The ECU part numbers are the same within the same 2G model year for AWD's or for FWD's regardless of California or Federal or transmission type. The only exception was for 95 FWD's where there was two different ECUs used during the production run.

Since there are differences between AT and MT cars they have different classification codes.
 
Yeah, I don't even remember how we got on it, just browsing on the e-mails between us from when I picked this up 2 years ago. Just grabbed my ECU and it doesn't even reference that number on any of the stickers.

Oh well, ignore my statements on different part numbers, apparently there are none.

Bringing this thread back cause I was searching for something and ran into this thread..

Auto 1g's came with 390cc injectors and higher fuel pressure..If you swap the ecu and not want to have problems..You have to swap in the 450's and a manual fpr...

What this does is allow you to launch after brake boosting without the ecu retarding timing..
