Im going to be doing some fuel upgrades to my auto to get ready for a big or small 16g. I wont be pushing alot of boost so im just going with some 450's for injectors. Now, i want to upgrade my ECU to a MT so i have the correct fuel maps for the injectors. My question is: If i only upgrade my injectors will the MT ECU still let the car run right? I dont have the $$ to upgrade the fuel sys and turbo at the same time. So i would still be running a 13g and AT cams. Would this mess up the A/F ratios or would the ECU be able to adapt to that?

Thanks

From what i have read in a post the other day you could run the AT ecu with 450's. Your car may run a little rich but the long term fuel maps should adjust for some of it.. If you do have a MT ecu, you can install it and drive the car just like it was stock. Basically it is now stock for a 1g MT car if you also installed the 450's. The cam profiles for the AT cars only offer a little more low end torque for the smaller 13g turbo to take advantage of. Befoer i got my SAFC installed, i drove my car daily for over a month on 450's and a MT ecu with NO problems at all.

By the way, thanks for the kudos on my ride from the other post.. Is your paint job still original, or have you had it re-painted? Cause it looks really good for 12 yrs old.. Good luck with the upgrades..

Its still original. Its not perfect, a little chip on my "hump" and then what looks like flakings from gravel or something on the front of the hood. Which is why i have that cover on the hood now, hides those little things good :thumb: But yeah, still original and over all it looks good. Thanks for the reply, i searched a little more and saw my fuel pressure is a little diff to, but that should not be a real big problem.

Your 450s wont be running at 450cc/min because of the lower fuel pressure. They run about 411cc/min at the stock 36psi. This means youd need an FPR to bump up the FP when you get a bigger turbo. If you do that youll need a fuel pump to keep the volume up. Then you could quite possible need some sort of fuel management like the MAF translator or SAFC. See how easily one simple install adds 10 other steps? Thats why youre better off just saving up a whole wad of cash and buying everything you need in one shot.
