Ecu dead...options?

The ecu is blown on my 97 GSX. I don't plan on going the dsmlink route anytime soon, just need something to get my car running. The local shop here wants 800+ to rebuild the factory ecu. What are my options and what year ecu's will work in my car?

What exactly is "blown" on the ecu. Most ecu damage can be repaired, and for a lot less than $800.

Maybe you can be nice and just charge him $400, 50% off, come on help a brother out. I'm sure you can find a local 2G to test it on.

With no issues, MD346676. That should be what you have.

Others may work but I'm far from an expert on all the issues with 2Gs.

If you want to run DSMlink you need either a MD312464 or MD309947 EPROM ECU from a '95 car and you have to swap some things around.

Yes, but you gotta swap plug wires connections. Firing orders are different.

Get a used ECU, preferably a newer one ('99). At one point I had 3 of them which I got for $100-$120 each.

The '95 ECU is still a OBDII ECU so the state wiill just plug in.

Unless your going to install DSMLink or a chip from Keydiver there is no reason to use a '95 ECU.

You never explained how your current ECU got blown up. Some caused will just blow any other you put in.

the rear 02 sensor blew a socket on the ecu. I havent taken the emissiosn test, but i have to soon as i get the ecu, thats y i ask which one will let me pass.

There aren't any sockets in our ECUs from the factory.
Why don't you drop it off and I see how difficult it will be to fix it.
