man i cant wait untill SD comes out!!! ahhhh!!!

how did you guys that are testing it get ahold of it?

1) Install a MAP sensor and an AIT sensor
2) Upgrade ECMLink to S/D and configure it for the sensors
3) Drive around with the MAF while logging
4) Run logs thru a wizard
5) Save settings generated by wizard to ECU
6) Set maf type to S/D

Done

wait
that's too easy
where's the hard part?

Hal, what all is involved in making the switch over to SD? Has anyone done a writeup on it yet?
Pretty much as Hal said, but there are other wizards available for the dial in procedure. For example, we have one that helps adjust the VE table based on fuel trim, just as the MAF compensation wizard does. So even after you remove the mass air sensor, you'll still have some help getting it dialed in quick and easy like.

No writes up yet. That's one of the few items left on the to-do list before release.

Will I still need a maf, or can I just get rid of it and go straight to S/D?

You could go "cold turkey" and dump the MAF from the outset, but since there is functionality to build the S/D table why not take advantage of it.

My total time was under 1/2 hour to do the install and build the S/D table using the wizard.

Throttle response is a little better in SD than Maf type. It's actually really nice to be able to switch from Maf to SD and back. This makes the tuning and analyzing a lot easier when you don't have to remove and install hard parts. You can drive in SD, stop, turn off the vehicle, then set the client for Maf, start the car, drive in Maf mode...or from Maf to SD.

The wizard is probably one of the coolest parts of the whole package. And yes....its that easy.

Lol, wait what!? So you're running SD and just leaving the maf in? The whole point of SD is to get rid of that limited POS. I can't believe nobody is absolutely RAVING about increased throttle response... something isn't right.

and still no videos or dyno sheets or logs?

Play nice. You know how we feel about flame-baiting...

you leave the MAF in while you make adjustments to SD,

then you remove it once it is calibrated

umm, because you cant read, you leave the MAF in while you make adjustemtns to SD,

then you remove it once it is calibrated

Hey don't make rude posts, act like an adult.

Let me quote the guy up there so YOU can read (again, but properly this time). Then you will use comprehension skills to realize that he's suggesting that you leave the maf in and switch to it on a "whenever you feel like it" basis.

Let me reiterate that there IS NO reason to ever switch between the two air metering systems once your car is tuned for either. You will not wake up one morning and be like you know, i think i want to drive to work in maf mode...

Lets drop the semantic argument, please. While he might not have call to challenge someone's reading comprehension, he did explain the point of confusion.

Easy fellas.

I see where you didn't understand what I was doing. Let me clarify. The reason for leaving the Maf in is for beta testing. If for some reason, we were out driving the car and something went wrong with the SD, we could run it on Maf. Or the other way around. So far, there have not been any issues in SD at all. Again, this is for Beta testing, not a permanent configuration or setup. For me, I will continue to drive the car and see what "I" like better.

Ahhh, gotcha... I think what you said might be confusing to some though because they may think that it's ok to do that in your car once it's tuned for sd... which I guess it is, if you want to hinder your airflow... but for beta testing I can see why you'd want the safety net.

Are there still no videos or logs of the sd setup? How does your car idle and do you have a fiav/isc installed?

Yep, no videos yet. I took the car to the track, slowed it down as much as I could, and made two passes to try and get some information.

It idles just fine. I actually noticed that it idle'd a little better in SD. But, that is all relative to coolant temperature and what not. I do run both the fiav and isc motor.

By the way, do you know where The Colony (Plano/Carrolton area) is?

Stop. Now.

I'll be back in to clean up in a while.

Cleaned. Ludachris will need to review this thread as I believe he's spoken to some of you about trolling...

Besides throttle response and more airflow in general one of the big things is liftoff stutter/jerk which is my main reason for wanting to go SD. The idea of hanging a monstrous pink lampshade directly off the turbo inlet isn't unappealing either.

So are there any updates? If the update is "everything is going GREAT and it's super close to being released," then don't bother... I'm talking about videos/logs/dyno sheets showing improvement over mas. People want to know.

Oh cool. So are there any logs/dyno sheets or videos showing how the speed density was a major improvement over mas?
Yes, they're permanently sealed and locked away, along with all of the 8, 9, and 10 second timeslips from Jackal users. :p

On a serious note, it's been released for two weeks - be patient, give it some time, and results will surface just as they normally do in the internet.

What do expect to be so improved. A lot of people have dialed in mafs and wont even see much of a difference going to SD. Best thing about it is you dont have an airflow restriction like the maf. People that went from maf to SD and saw huge improvements had crappy calibrated mafs and tuned cars.
