Hello, I own a 91 Galant VR4 that was prevoiusly running with an unknown modded chip. I got ecmlink v3 from a friend that is installed in another ecu (guessing it's a talon/eclipse). That ecu says converted to awd on it. The only issue is the stock ecu and the new ecu look different (internally and different mounting points outside). I am worried about my all wheel steering (or other galant specific features) being messed up with another ecu. Should I try to plug it in and see if it works or is there a way to switch the chips between the ecus? Thanks so much in advance. I can't wait to be running ecmlink!

There is no difference between AWD and FWD ecu's technically. They are programmed for 450s and stock parts.

Ecmlink will be everything you need for tuning and datalogging. Install that and have fun! You can keep your ECU and pop the ECMlink chip in.

The Galant and DSM ecu's are different externally. But I havent noticed a difference internally personally. The rear wheel steering is based off the speed sensor input if Im not mistaken.

you could take the internals of the dsmlink ecu, and put them in the galant ecu case [if they mount the same on the inside].
but you might want to mark the ecu, and cases so you don't mix them up in the future.
also do you have the part number on the outside of the dsm ecu? [it will help id it]

Also take a minute and look at this link.

Thanks guys, what I had was a 1g non-socketed ecu with the aftermarket socketed chip. My gvr4 is socketed, so I just pulled the ecmlink chip and added it to my ecu. Now I just have to learn how to tune it. Hahaha.
