I heard that the megan o2 housings (rec. and dumped) are the same as ebay ones with reinforced welds. I looked online but couldn't find an answer. Is this true? If that's the case I'd rather get a punishment racing one.

I have been running an ebay o2 housing (rec) for a year now with not one problem so I say give it a try. I am also about to grab up an open dump just for some fun. People will complain about ebay stuff but if the metal is right and the welds are strong then it makes for a good exhaust component.

Yeah the ebay o2 housings seems to be good products. I was just wondering if megan used them

A lot of it comes down to craftsmanship. A higher price one may have no aligning issues with bolts and the welds are very nicely tigged. There probably wont be any problems with it but then again it may turn into a nightmare and without a warrenty. That's the problem with ebay IMO. I pay a little more and get most of my stuff off extremepsi or stm. I have worked with them a ton and they always ship pretty quick!

edit: just thought of this, the flange thickness may be a bit thicker on the more expensive ones too

The issue is the metal is not right, it's usually a more inferior grade of stainless.

I had an eBay O2 housing on my car. It fit like crap and it was a huge flow restriction (very tight bend to feed into the DP, maybe 1" in diameter).

I've since swapped it out PR O2 housing and I'm much happier with it.

I have a megan O2. Just get it, it is better then ebay, if you get the ebay o2 do not complain in a year when the welds crack and you have a exhaust leak.

The answer should be pretty obvious...

I bought this obvious ebay O2 housing used a few months ago. Anyway, I'm running a small 16G with an Evo III turbine housing and stock (2G) ported O2 housing. I haven't gotten around to installing it yet, and now I'm not so sure that I will. I stacked 1G and 2G turbine to O2 housing gaskets on top of it, and this is what it looks like... The wastegate opening is obviously much smaller, but it seems like it might flow better than the stock O2 housing once it actually makes it into the passage. Any thoughts?

I bought an eBay o2 housing, the flange to the turbine housing was warped very badly from the welds; I ended up using an Evo III o2 housing since everything matched up a heck of a lot nicer.

In terms of flow, some areas of the eBay housing look like they'll flow better, in some areas the Evo III housing will flow better. I noticed that the Evo III housing matched all gaskets perfectly, whereas the eBay housing left a lot to be desired.
