does anyone know if this adapter will work with dsmlink v2

I don't believe that cable would work. You're gonna need a USB cable that connects to an OBDII port.

Just buy a Keyspan USB serial adapter.

What OS are you running is another good question, because in case you didn't see it:

Windows 98/Se/ME/2000/XP supported, NOT for Windows Vista.

sorry i should have been alittle more specific. i already have dsmlink v2 and all the components but my laptop does not have the DB9 serial plug so i have to use an adapter. i had the belkin one but it broke and i dont want to spend another $50.

and im runing windows 7 witch is backwards compatible with XP and earlier software

If you have a real copy of dsmlink, then you should also have access to the link forums. Theirs a thread there with all the adapters known to work and not work.

Precisely. You can also order a Keyspan directly from them as well.

When I was using 2.5 I was using that adapter, I also have a keyspan. Both work fine.

I used a belkins adapter for years, with V1 and V2. V3 is now USB though.

A lot of no-names dont work properly.

There have been a few threads about this on the link forums.

Just buy a keyspan and call it a day.
