I have recently acquired DSMlink 2.5 from a friend, it was a complete legit kit. I had the setup in my living room because I was waiting for my Keyspan adapter to come in the mail. Last night I got my Kepspan in from Fedex, went to grab my stuff and out of nowhere my OBD2 to Serial adapter is gonzo. My room mate had some people over at the house in the mean time, none of them are car people but I fear it had been mistaken for a phone charger or computer accessory and taken. I am in the process of tearing our house apart looking for the adapter, and I have one from a friend to use in the mean time. If I can't come across it, is there anything I can do to get a new one? I have already spoken with ECMtuning and they absolutely do not re-sell them anymore.

What can I do guys?
Thanks,
-Kyle

I sent ECMtuning an Email to see if I can still upgrade to V3 without that adapter, so I guess I might be upgrading to either V3 or just ordering V3 lite sooner than I planned. There's no aftermarket options available for this piece though?

:( Man this really sucks. Looks like I wasted $250 on this setup. I guess I'll just look around and see if I can run across one. They ever come up for sale? If anyone has a lead on one that could be sold, I would really appreciate it. This is the only thing keeping my 8 month project from being completed.

Thanks for the help though guys.

Tell your roommates to offer the people that were over a reward for it's return, no questions asked.

In the mean time, make sure you don't disconnected or drain your battery so you don't loose the turn you did with your friends interface.

It's only 195 to upgrade from v2 to v3. So you still got it cheaper than having to straight out buy v3.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to 'upgrade' to V3 without having that adapter, so I'll likely be stuck buying a full new kit. If ANYONE catches wind or having a lead on one of these pieces, you have no idea how great that would be for me. I am willing to pay a finders fee if someone comes across one.

It is very rare that someone sells just the adapter, so good luck. Either buy another version of v2 used or buy a brand new v3 (lite or full, depending on your budget and needs). It will probably be a waste of your time trying to find one since no one with a setup will sell you theirs. As Steve said, it's the "key" to the 2g v2 setup and you cannot upgrade to v3 without sending it in.

I'm closing this thread as it's just going to turn into a WTB ad. If anyone sees a logical reason that it needs opened back up, PM me.

Re-opened thanks to Mr. Snowborder.

I have come across a DSMlink v1 setup in Kansas City (couple hours away from me) that's pretty cheap. Will the v1 adapter work for me? It looks identical. Either way I am going to pick it up so worst case scenario I can upgrade to V3 much cheaper.
