Ebay downpipe question

Having a tough time getting the bolts etc to start since they are so close to the pipe. Is some denting required on these?

Example of the pipe I have.

i think you answered your own question. i know on my 97 gsx the nuts were rediculously close i had to use a crows foot to tighten them. but denting the pipe a bit would save alot of head aches

Actually a lot of people recommend a ebay downpipe. This thing is well made, just needs a little help to fit since its huge and not 2" dia.

If the op posted the pipe was the one he bought it's the same as the punishment is it not... last i remember etd, cxracing and punishment had the same stuff.

It is the exact same as punishments down pipe. You can either dent it, or if using a aftermarket o2 housing you can weld the nuts on that to start threading the bolts. The reason why its hard to thread it is because its a true 3 inches. So no its not ebay crap

Yes, Mine is CXRacing. full 3' on both sides, and mine fit.

I would still buy from a vendor, less likely to have problems, after owning my dsm i use things already proven, not just maybe it will fit, its my money not taking chances.

If you mate a true 3" pipe to a O2 housing that is far from 3" the bolt spacing is going to be close. It doesn't mean the downpipe is crafted crappily. A pipe is a pipe. A DSM downpipe has got to be the easiest pipe to make.

With some searching I think he consensus is that they don't make a full 3" o2 housing. You can have one made, bit wouldn't even know what a close price would be.

I know VRS makes a 2 bolt 3" O2 housing but I've also read guys are running 2.5" O2 housings with 3" downpipes (in/out).

im running a ebay downpipe aswell. Kinda hard to mess up the downpipe i had no issues with mine. plus it was less than $100 shipped to my door.

I just bent a 3 inch pipe welded on the flange. Welded on a autozone flex mesh in its place. down pipe for 50 bucks.

Ebay stuff is hit or miss. You have to really watch what company you buy from. I had a full ebay exhaust on my first gst. The exhaust sounded nice and deep and the downpipe bolts fit just as well as they should.

I got an ebay full 3" downpipe that looks like the one in the OP's link. It's surprisingly good quality for the price. It wouldn't fit up to the o2 housing so I got an ebay o2 housing and they fit together nicely. I think I only paid $60 for the o2 housing with shipping. That's been a few years back though. I believe they're a little more expensive now.

I bought one too. I have had many bolts fall out. I had to buy locking nuts. I also had gaskets burn up because the bolts kept falling out.
