So what is the scoop on ebay bov's? They are a lot cheaper, and it doesn't seem like creating a bov, if you have the right equipment, is rocket science. So what does everyone think, I had a HKS SSQ knock off and it worked great at 15psi. Any ideas?

but that is what it is. a knock off. i've lived by the sayin. iam to poor to buy cheap parts. buy the best once and never again. plus a good bov is very important. you don't want that 600$ turbo to get back spun and brake . do u? :dsm: :talon: :laser:

Back spun and brake, huh?

I have experience with the Greddy Type-S one. I found the diaphram to be weak, but it was a direct fit from the REAL one from Greddy. So a $30 BOV and a $40 rubber peice from Greddy and worked just as good. Back then, he got it for like $20 plus shipping. And the diaphram was was only $80 from Greddy. At the time the real Greddy Type-S was going from $190-$215.

I have the ssqv knockoff and I finally broke down and bought a real HKS SSQV because my ebay one kept falling apart inside. If you look in the end you see the bullet in the center. Around the outside it is plastic and says super sequential blow off valve. This peice is connected inside to another piece of plastic. Mine kept popping apart and would leak. I took it apart a couple of times and super glued the two pieces together and it would hold for a while and then fall apart again. Also if you put the ebay ssqv next to a real one you can see the incredible difference in craftsmanship. Hope this helps Travis

forge bovs from what i read are some of the best. i say spend the extra money and get something that will last a lifetime after years of use. they're not worth it if they keep breaking and you have to keep buying a new one.

forge is what i run. mbc, bov, actuator rod. its good product . there bov did not even trip check engine light on my car. plus there direct fit for dsm. :talon:

Why would a BOV trip a CEL, no matter how good or bad it is, so long as it's properly recirculated? Or hell, even if not?

Well, I can't seem to find my 1g bov. I took it off a year or so ago and don't know where I put it. I am simply looking for a good bov that you don't have to screw around with for it to do its job.

To let you all know I broke down and bought an HKS SSQ version 2, it wasn't cheap but it will do the job nicely.

I have a genuine GReddy Type-S BOV, but I've heard good things about the eBay knock-off Type-S on numerous occasions. Supposedly the internals (e.g. the diaphragm) don't last as long, but if your knock-off does start leaking you can always replace the internals with a genuine GReddy diaphragm for fairly cheap and you'd still have less money in it then you'd pay for a new GReddy Type-S or Type-RS.

Get it on quick enough, and no one will have time to call you a ricetard I guess. :D

What was that all about? Do I need to recirculate my bov in order to be cool or to fit in? I am not an idiot, I have never vented and never will vent my bov without the proper setup.

Def glad i found out this website, bc i would of turned out to be the biggest ricetard LOL. Probably from my lack of mechanical knowledge but passion for speed..its ok though bc my bro is a mechanic and i bother him all the time...There is way more to making you car faster than i thought, but i actually enjoy trying to learn all this stuff..(so i got a BOV greddy knock off from ebay, but im not installing it untill i get a MAF thanks to this site!

Watch out when installing that. I bought an eBay Greddy BOV too, and the flange was uneven and I ended up breaking the flange. Check to make sure everything is even and level with your adapter BEFORE you install it. Just trying to save you the cussing and wrench throwing that us DSMer's are known for, LOL.

Can you, or anyone else, point me to replacement internals? I've never seen them for sale anywhere. My knock-off Type-S is leaking above 15psi.

EDIT: Never mind...Google FTW! Found one for $68.
