Hello,

I recently switched over to E85, about a week or two ago. What should I be doing differently? I heard I should change my filter weekly for the first two weeks and use fuel injector cleaner.

Any suggestions?

I changed the fuel filter after 2 tanks, twice. And now I'm on a Fuel Lab paper filter. Going to go to a metal filter if I find any deterioration from the alcohol.

I also run a tank of 93 every 15-20 tanks.

nice you finally switched over! The injectors get gunked up so every few thousand miles take them out and run them through 93 to clean them. Don't forget to get a ASAP tune so your car will run hard;)

So you guys suggest I load up my 93 settings on DSM Link every I don't know month or so and just run on a tank of 93? I am changing my filter tomorrow, probably do so the weekend after as well.

no. Cause then you have to drain the e85 and put the pump gas in. Then drain the pump gas out and put e85 back in. It's easier to take the injectors out and run them through the pump gas. Go to the junk yard and get an extra injector clip. Cut the bottom half of a 1 gallon water jug off and put some 93 in there. Drop the the injector in so the connector isn't submerged and hook it up to a 12v battery for a little.

Or you can get them professionally clean and flow tested which is about 70$ for all 4.

This is good info. Do I know you from some where? I sent you the video. What did you think?

or soak them (injectors) in some sea foam.. that shits amazing!!
The SeaFoam will clean them like new almost!
Its been used and proven for years and years!!!
But ya i think you should get a metal fuel filter.. and it seems to mush of a pain to run 93 every so often! IMO

Just put a gallon of pump mixed with the e85 and that will clean out the injectors. Your car will run alittle rich with that tank but its easier than pullling the injectors out.

Richard's idea sounds like the winner! But taking out the injectors every time? :(

Would running some 93 octane mixed with E85 do the trick as well how johnmarines suggested?

Well the black gunk is rumored to be the sediment that is on the bottom of your gas tank. I think after continuously running e85 that the black gunk would go away over time. I hate switching over to gas for one tank. I ran enough boost that I would have to turn boost down and my tune was still alittle off because I could never get all the E85 out of the tank. SO I would just add seafoam to the E85 after so many fill ups. I don't know if nayone tried that but I took my car out of commision before I needed to clean the injectors. I am running a fuel cell in the next set up so I am going to check the injectors after a couple thousand and see what they look like.

thanks viper, keep us posted on that.

Anybody can confirm the seafoam/e85 idea is okay to do?

well I have about 3,000 miles since the switch to e85 and I haven't cleaned these injectors yet and they seem to be doing fine. I probably should have though since I have them out about 10 times LOL

LOL. I have probably about 500 or so. I will be buying some soon probably at about 2,000 miles with these on E85, I'll see how they are then.
