e85 fuel setup if im gonna be running 500hp evnentually

if i plan on running 500hp eventually is it okay to put a e85 fuel setup with 1100cc injectors in my 95 gsx if im running stock injectors with a big 16g turbo and full rebuilt bottom and top end with eagle pistons bored .20 if i tune it will that be okay?

I've been planning on typing something up for a while... just been putting it off while trying to decide how to do it without getting too complicated. I got bored and this thread motivated me to get off my ass on it.

... running an injector coil (or any mechanical coil for that matter) at full saturation generates heat...and injector coils aren't designed to withstand increasing heat for an extended period of of time.

After thinking about this some more and talking with Tom Dorris on the subject, I'm not sure I agree 100% with my initial thoughts. While I still think it's possible to burn out the injector coils given enough time under certain conditions, I don't think it's likely that those conditions would be met under normal operation. I still have the urge to try it and find out though.

But, that doesn't change the fact that you should still allow some IDC headroom for the other reasons mentioned.

It is very clear that you can't physically go past 100% IDC when you consider that each cycle is just a slice of time. For example, say you divide 10 seconds into 10 equal slices of time or "cycles". If you are at 80% duty cycle then in each "cycle" you are on for .8 of a second. At 100% duty cycle you are on for the entire second so essentially you are maxed out. You can go 120% duty cycle if you want but nothing changes since that would just overlap the next cycle.

The first half of that statement is true, the second half not so much. (I'll explain why in a minute).





IDC = PW/Period, or PW/(120/RPM)

Then there is a misunderstanding of that quote, since that is what I was talking about -- Injector size does not change how IDC is calculated.
