i've been researching alot and saving up money to purchase the e316g and the supporting mods. I've been reading alot of threads on the 34mm flapper and porting and wondering if it would be a good idea for my setup..I ask this because it seems alotta people are differing their opinions. heres my current mods.
mbc, air filter, greddy type-s, apexi dp, apexi n1 exh, turbo timer.
if i were to buy the evo3 i would get: safcII, walbro 190, 550cc injectors, accel wires, ngk bpr7es plugs, and eventually a front mount from JR.
I'm not looking to go all out on the turbo. prolly like 18-20 lbs of boost. however i want the engine to run efficient and be strong. what advantage would this flapper and porting have besides faster spool up? is it worth it? i do not plan to port o2 housing or exhaust manifold. so i need everything to match up!!

I would port and do the 34mm flapper mod.I had 3 inch turbo back exhaust and I still creeped. I am now running a 50 trim with no creep. I would do it to be on the safe side. :dsm:

Porting is a good idea, no matter what. Almost all the 16g dyno records have been on ported turbos. The 34 mm flapper mod could go either way--my Evo 16g is both ported and 34 mm flapper'd. If you are looking to run 26+ psi on this turbo on race gas at the track, you may not want the 34 mm flapper.

Otherwise, I would get it if you want to run low boost. My turbo has had no creep problems.

i just plan on maybe 21 lbs. im not to serious just i want all the mods to run together efficient. but when i haul ass i want quick response and no down sides(creep, leak, poor engine running, too much). so thats y i was curious about the flapper and porting. i pretty much assumed porting was essential but the flapper i was kinda clueless.
