e3 spark plugs good or bad

Just a quick question, Has any one ever used e3 spark plugs. I got differnt opinoins from diffrent people. Some say better hp and gas milage. Some say it makes there car run like crap. Just wanted find out if any one has run them in there 4g63's

Garbage. These people use pseudoscience to sell their CRAP. An electrode is going to stay cleaner when the spark arcs to one spot. When it has 3 to choose from, it can only arc one gap at a time, so the other 2 spots get dirty. The common spark plug has no changed in years, and there is no evidence that it needs to. It will either ignite a mixture of air and fuel, or it won't.

I got them way back when I first got my car on the road from it's restoration, and let me tell you. For our engines at least, they are complete garbage. NGK's are the way to go.

Copper-core NGK's; or, if you're turbo'd and your tune is spot-on to the point where you don't foul plugs, you can use NGK Iridiums.

Ya ngk are the best for our cars. I think there ngkbpr9. I was told not to use Iridiums becuase they make hotter spark which make the engine hotter. Is that correct justin? This is what someone told me.

No. NGK bpr7es or bpr6es. and gap at .028 i know the car recommends .032 but it performs better and wont blowout at .028.

And most prefer the bpr6es.

Yes no iridium, and no platinum. copper all the way.

Why Justin put his statement on fine tuning for the usage of "ir' plugs with this page below. Basically, better than platinum in a long shot, but copper core is still the best due to conductivity.

If we could use gold or silver inside the plugs, then you really have a sparkplug with the fattest spark ever created since these precious metals are excellent conductors of electricity with the lowest resistance factor.

Iridium is a precious metal that is 6 times harder and 8 times stronger than platinum, it has a 1,200°(F) higher melting point than platinum and conducts electricity better. This makes it possible to create the finest wire center electrode ever. Prior till now, spark plug manufacturers have favored platinum for their long life or performance spark plugs due to its high melting point. However platinum alone is no longer enough, ultra long life spark plugs and smaller center electrodes required harder and stronger precious metals. The strength, hardness and high melting point of iridium makes it very well suited for a fine wire plug and for ultra long life spark plugs. Though better, it's not perfect, it is very expensive, and at higher temperatures it oxides, thus rendering pure iridium as an expensively poor choice for spark plug construction. However when blended with other precious metals such as Yttria, Rhodium or Platinum, you can enhance those metals advantages with the superior strength and hardness of Iridium. Almost all manufacturers have their own version of an iridium spark plug. DO NOT BE FOOLED, all iridium plugs are not the same. It's amazing what a set of plugs will do. Ngk bpr7 FTW. No one carried 7s where I live got them at STM for a great price.

Never listen to those people at autozone.. they are usually uneducated (in cars mainly) highschool kids. (well atleast around here)

Iridium plugs have all the longevity benefits of a Platinum plug, but Iridium is a better electrical conductor than both Platinum and Copper. It has nothing to do with heat range.

The reason I say only to use Iridiums if your tune is spot-on is because Iridium plugs have a finewire electrode with less surface area and will foul quicker if they get all sooted up from a lousy tune. If your tune sucks, you're better to foul $10 worth of plugs than $50 worth of plugs.

I'm glad I found this thread. I just put a set of E3's in my GSX last weekend thinking the more surface area for arc makes for a better performing spark plug. Reading this thread definitely changes my opinion of that. I will replace with NGK's asap. What is the difference between the bpr6 & 7's?

Ive heard good and bad things about NGK irridiums. Ive never ran them personally, ive always gone for coppers.

Some say they are great and help ignition issues, other say the car runs badly or that they foul out quickly

Platinum or Iridium plugs cannot just be categorized as good or no good. They may not work great in all applications, but obviously they work in Evos as Mitsu has used them for years in these turbo applications.

That said, the 1g or 2gs were not designed and developed with them. Can they work? Sure in some cases they may be better, but not categorically either way.

The original plug for a 2g turbo is a BPR6EKN, which is still copper, but multi electrode.
