Dumbest things you've heard a DSMer say? :)

- Told to install larger (than stock) Injectors - They were already installed as was stated in the thread.
- Told to Use a "Tubular Manifold" - One was listed in the build sheet.
- Told to install a boost gauge before installing the 16g turbo in my list - Well, there was no 16g turbo in my list at all, so the comment was moot.
- Told to install a full 3" Exhaust - A complete 3" exhaust from Dejon was already listed.
- Told again to install larger (than stock) injectors - They're still already installed .. imagine that.
- Being told off repeatedly for using the word "stage" when I'm upgrading my vehicle in multiple "stages" - I don't even need to explain that one.

All that from a thread I posted here earlier...

I understand what you are doing but I think you are going to be spending way more than necessary.

Building in stages often means buying the same thing twice. I bought 1250's instead of 750's just in case and I have a feeling I will be buying bigger and selling these.

The stage thing does bug the #### out of me because in my highschool, people are obsessed with what stage everyone's car is. I haven't been beaten yet and everyone is like WTF STAGE IS THAT THING?

It's retarded and probably some of the dumbest shit I have heard in general. If you buy the stuff for your future goals in these stages, I don't see an issue with it. It's called supporting mods. Important to keep the boom away.

How about LS1Tech getting trolled HARD?
Need help guys!!! - LS1TECH

Omg!!! That was hilarious! How could someone be so dumb to not read the label on the front of the bottle?? And 8 quarts? Really!! Bahahaha!! "I had a ####in B16 twin cam that ran 13s on ethnol. id like 2 see you do that..." Whoa watch out a honda in the 13s!! LOL

I'm not spending that much, I don't pay retail, I pay cost, LOL. As for the injectors, it has 1000cc right now, I figure those are good for awhile. What got me was people would rather whine about my using the word stage, then provide anything useful.

Does anyone have a drum of III Fluid. I have been pouring this shit in the fill cap since 7am this morning still not full.

xD!!

So, I just got a response about turboing a 420a in the Repair sub-forum. Now I know it's possible to turbo a 420a and all that... blah blah... but I'm a better safe than sorry guy and would recommend doing things like internal work, fuel system work, and other things before I said "GO TURBO YOUR 420a!"

Apparently.. just toss a turbo on and tune it. ;D

"Dont let peeps tell u ## gonna blow up cause there full of it it's all in the tune that keeps it from gernading "

I'm sorry.. I didn't know that there should be preventive maintenance, hardware upgrades, and other things that should be done to ensure that you don't blow your engine. You just need to toss on a turbo, tune it on a dyno, and have a hay day boosting your ass off. No worries about head-bolts... head gaskets, fuel delivery, or anything like that...:boring:

actually xik you can just toss on a turbo with minimal fuel upgrades to a 420a as long as you are running 8-10lbs of boost and have a healthy engine (aka all your servicing especially head gasket):p Do your research buddy:tease:

What the hell are you trying to run?

1250s will support over 53 lbs/min at 80% idc, and over 67 lbs/min at 100% idc and that is considering that you'll be running e85. Gas is even more flow for approximately 68 lbs/min at 80% and 85lbs/min at 100% idc.

Your 16g will certainly never flow anywhere near that so I assume you're upgrading but even a lot of big turbos will never really stress your 1250s even on e85.

>> Why research when I sat and WATCHED a perfectly healthy 420a that had religious maintenance done to it blow up when a turbo kit was just 'slapped' on and ran 8PSI?

I'm sorry, but I don't feel safe giving advice to someone that they can just slap any type of turbo setup on any engine without prep work. Would you recommend someone do that on a N/T 4G63? I think not. You'd go into talk about the ring lands, fuel, oil delivery, and all of that.

Just sayin' is all. Better safe to do the work then listen to someone go "JUST DO IT" and sit idly by knowing what could happen otherwise. =/

???

We have been running a turbocharged 420A for over 2 years on 10 PSI, stock internals. We just finished another one that is running awesome and we bought a Talon 420A with a GT2860 already on it that puts down 13's.

It really is all about tuning. Once we install the Devil's Own kit we bought for it we are going to bump it up to 15 PSI. We also plan on using an Stratus 2.4L crank to stroke one. 420A guys need their love too.

yeah sounds like your experience xik is a freak accident or there was something foul at play. As for turboing a 4g63 NT i wouldn't give advice on it or just any random engine because i don't know shit about those engines. I spent a good 100hours or so researching boosting my 420s before i went the NT route so i feel confident that it can be done (through my research and through what numerous others have already done).

~_~ As I said, I won't argue valid points and I don't think I can sit here and call BS on either of you.

I'm JUST SAYING... I wouldn't advise it because to me, I'd rather not take the risk. I'd do all of the supportive work before a turbo every met a 420a I was working on.

I'm not saying it's NOT possible. xD I'm saying that to ME, it doesn't seem safe and I don't find it entirely too smart to go adding power without supportive modifications.

I'm going to bed, by the way. I have to let me new 'bandaid' for the coolant system setup and I'm dog tired. Maybe that's why this isn't making sense to me. :p

Guy: yea im going to do the Turbo AWD swap
Me: Thats virtually impossible
Guy: well if you can put a 350 in an S-10 it can be done

Guy: is that turbo?
Me:yea, so i get into my car to move it ,
Guy: that car isnt turbo I cant hear the BOV
this is when im moving it a total of 5ft, so I tell him its stock BOV and of course he says they dont have stock BOV's

Im in school walking down the hall and these kids are like I thought your car was fast I dont really say much and they say I know a stock turbo neon that can beat it, So I ask if its an SRT and they say no, Well its not stock then is it and I walk off

Neon Guy: when I get my car fixed it will beat your TSi
ME: well what are you doing to it
Guy: Putting total seal rings in it with stock pistons and bore
ME: I just kind of looked at him like this :toobad:

Me: "Why were you looking at muflers in Pepboys?"
noob: "I was looking for the one you have on your car."
Me: "Dude, I have a Megan 3" downpipe and 3" catback, not a fart cannon!"
noob: "I thought that a catback was a full exaust?"
Me: (walking away)

know it all: "Dogbox transmissions are semiautomatic!"
tried telling him that he was wrong, but he never listened

Chevy kid: "Eclipses never came out of the factory turboed and/or all wheel drive!"
Chevy kid: "Nice fart cannon!"

still don't agree it's safe, though. ;P

that's an engine? i mean... correct me if i'm wrong here... but i could have sworn the drivetrain consisted of things like the transmission and transfer cases and differentials and such.

I thought so too...

+1 to this. And by that picture you can't tell its a sixbolt. You can put a 1g cas on a 7bolt head. I have heard of a lot of people using them because the 2g cas is a pita to change.
