Ok so I got a Shearer top mount manifold that has two 44mm Tial wastegates and I am going to be running a PTE 6265 BB turbo. I will be running around 30-40 psi, are two 44mm gates an overkill for my set up? Will I get boost spikes galore? I am getting my car tuned soon and just don't want this to be an issue and if it is I want to take care of it before the tuning session. Any help at all is appreciated!

The only reason for two wastegates, is for the twin scroll...When its twin scroll, you need a wastegate for each divider! You also need to have the turbo equipped with a twin scroll to mach the manifold!

I'd expect you to know this question if you're doing this setup.

You'll be fine as long as manifold matches turbo correctly, with proper tune as well and even wastegate springs.

Since the other guys didn't answer your question..

YES it is overkill.. Most of us with really large turbos even utilize twin 38s.

You will be fine however. Besides losing a lot of space in your engine bay like anything else they are adjustable so no worries..

Cool man thanks! I have been getting mixed answers and finally got one from someone who is actually willing to help and not hate. Thanks again man! :thumb:

If I have never ran twin 44s then how would I know this? I asked because I obviously don't know and wanted to get feedback from someone who has had experience.

Yeah I am going to order my twin scroll t4 exhaust housing for my 6265 on friday! I bought my turbo with a t3 housing because at the time I had a T3 manifold but I bought the shearer because it was a deal I could not refuse!

Would the 44mm size wastegates cause a problem holding boost?

I thought the saying was the big wastegate=low boost and small wastegate=high boost. But then again it could be different since it's a dual wastegate setup.

It would not cause any problem holding boost, the saying is true but when each wastegate only bypass exhaust gas for 2 cyl, it would hold no matter what.
