Dsmlink?

I was looking at buying a dsmlink from a local guy but he doesn't have the cable anymore. Can you buy the cable by itself? Also from the pictures he sent me he has the cd a two step launch control a sensor or some sort and the wiring. He also has a socket and the chip but the chip is just white and says stage 3 written on it. The cd does say ecmlink but from the new ones I've seen the chip is red and says ecmlink on it. He told me when he loads the cd in his computer it says 2.5 which he thinks means its version 2.5. If anyone else has any info please let me know as I am new to messing around with the dsmlinks. Thanks

Go to the site ecmlink.com. Send them a email if you have any doubts about what your buying, that way you have a very accurate answer.

Depends on which part of the cable is missing. The OBD II to RS-232 adapter is the proof of ownership key for 2G DSMLink V2 and you can't buy replacements. There is a RS232 cable that runs from it to your laptop and those are replaceable but you need the box that plugs into the car's ODB II port.

He doesn't have the one that goes to the obd port. I looked at ecmlinks website and it does look fishy with having a hand written stage 3 across it and nothing else. Thanks for the replys.

If the OBDII adapter is not there, just walk away.

Sounds like he has a chip somebody made and not DSMLink regardless of having an old DSMLink CD.
