DSMLink with wideband question

I'm fixing to buy DSMLink and I need a new o2 sensor but I have been trying to figure out if DSMLink can use just the wideband by itself or does it still run of the stock front o2 sensor? I know DSMLink has wires for the wideband o2 but can it run off of it alone?

Presently, DSMlink still uses the stock front o2 signal for closed loop, the wideband is only there for logging. You could technically buy a wideband with a simulated narrowband output and use that in place of the stock o2 sensor though. You can also force open loop in DSMlink and effectively ignore the o2 sensor altogether. If your airflow and fuel settings are dialed in right, the car should run fine like that. The next version of DSMlink is supposed to incorporate an option to use the 5v wideband signal to replace a stock o2, but it's still a ways off.

Like stated above, some wideband O2 packages provide a simulated narrowband output you could tie into your front O2 signal. But I would personally suggest using the stock O2 sensor to control closed loop operation.

I ran my plxm300 to simulate my front o2 sensor in DSMLink for 6 months, the outcome was a 15% drop in fuel economy.. Keep the fron 02 for closed loop and LTFT's and use the wideband in the rear 02 for tuning..
